Fact Check: Did US Marshals seize Ivanka Trump’s passport after Melania Trump’s testimony?
WASHINGTON, DC: A claim has been going viral on social media platforms that President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump’s passport was seized by US Marshals after an alleged testimony by First Lady Melania Trump. The claim has sparked speculations among netizens, with many questioning the authenticity of the claim. Let us fact-check it.
Claim: US Marshals seized Ivanka Trump's passport
According to the claim, US Marshals seized Ivanka Trump’s passport in a money laundering case after an alleged testimony from First Lady Melania Trump.
The rumor was posted on the YouTube channel Newsflash America and claimed that US Marshals raided "Ivanka's Miami residence at six forty-seven in the morning and left with her travel documents."
It went on to claim that "Ivanka Trump is now under GPS monitoring with travel restricted to the Southern District of New York after posting a fifteen-million-dollar bond."
The claim goes on saying, “The investigation reveals eighty-four point seven million dollars in questionable wire transfers routed through shell companies in Cyprus, the Cayman Islands, and Nevada."
The claim has spread on other social media platforms such as Facebook, X, and Reddit.
Fact Check: The claim is fake
The claim, however, is fake. US Marshals did not seize Ivanka Trump's passport. Neither has there been any 'private two-hour testimony' from Melania, which supposedly led to the raid.
Searches on Google or any search engine do not generate any appropriate results supporting the claim.
If the rumor was true, it would have made headlines in the prominent news media outlets, and there is no mention of news reports about the raid.
Alleged tensions between Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump
According to a November report by The Daily Mail, Melania was thrilled when Ivanka did not join her father for their trip to the UK, suggesting that the first lady and first daughter reportedly did not get along.
Those closest to the First Lady said that she was filled with joy that her stepdaughter, whom she privately calls a 'thorn in her side,' would not tag along for the visit.
“[Ivanka] was always kind of vying for space and Melania wanted her own space,” Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer of the First Lady, Mary Jordan, said of the pair. “Melania didn’t need a second first lady that Ivanka had kind of become.”
Judi James, a body language expert, once noted that the First Lady showed signs of stepping out of step daughter Ivanka’s shadows, referring to the alleged longstanding tension between the two.
