The claim has sparked concerns and speculation, calling for a fact-check.
Claim: Tucker Carlson is converting to Islam
According to an X post by several accounts, leaked intel claims that Tucker Carlson is set to convert to Islam, possibly as early as next week.
The post further states that the move is being framed as a major PR coup for Islam in the United States, which, according to insiders, he spent over two years carefully introducing Islamic ideas to his audience.
The claim has drawn massive backlash against the conservative commentator, indicating many believe the claim is true, while a few others dismissed it as fake and called for a fact-check.
Fact Check: No credible evidence to support the claim
Although Carlson has made favorable comments about Islam in recent times, there are no credible reports that suggest he is converting to Islam next week.
There are no official reports from the CIA or FBI that support the claim. If there has really been an intelligence leak, it will not go unnoticed by credible news media outlets, triggering widespread backlash and nationwide debates.
A search on Google for relevant keywords also yielded no relevant news reports, except for the social media posts amplifying the claim. As of this writing, Carlson continues to identify as a Christian, and hence the claim is rated as false.
Tucker Carlson comments favoring Islam
The claim is based on Carlson’s recent comments in favor of Islam, including his defense of El-Sayed’s remark on 9/11.
Recently, the former ally of President Donald Trump argued that America’s response to 9/11 had an even greater impact than the attacks themselves.
Defending El-Sayed’s remark condemning America’s crackdown on several countries after 9/11, Carlson said, “El-Sayed did not celebrate airplane hijackings or cheerlead Al-Q***a; he simply said that the US conducting t*******m of its own in response to 9/11 was not exactly an appropriate reaction. He is obviously right.”
In March this year, he stirred a row after suggesting that societies governed by Sharia law are “more advanced” than those in the West.
“There’s not a single Western city that’s thriving…They’re all in moral and physical decay because of self-hatred and a lost will to live,” he said.
