Fact Check: Does viral photo show Erika Kirk with alleged Charlie Kirk shooter?
WASHINGTON, DC: Utah state prosecutors charged Tyler Robinson, 22, on several counts, including aggravated murder, accusing him of killing Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
Recently, a rumor circulated online after users claimed an image was an authentic photo of Charlie Kirk's wife, Erika Kirk, with Tyler Robinson. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.
Claim: Photo shows Erika Kirk with alleged Charlie Kirk shooter
A Threads user made a post on February 25, 2026, displaying the image with the caption, "Well looky here, who is this guy? I think we had some Kirk on Kirk crime! No AI or photoshopped!"
During Charlie Kirk's memorial last September, Erika Kirk spoke about her husband's life, their marriage, and the young men he inspired. She also shared a powerful message and said she forgives the man who killed her husband, because that’s what Charlie would have done.
Speaking about her husband's mission, Erika said Charlie was deeply committed to reaching young men who felt lost and directionless.
Erika said at the time, "Charlie passionately wanted to reach and save the lost boys of the West. The young men who feel like they have no direction, no purpose, no faith, and no reason to live. The men wasting their lives on distractions and the men consume with resentment, anger and hate. Charlie wanted to help them. He wanted them to have a home with Turning Point USA."
She added, "And when he went on to campus, he was looking to show them a better path and a better life. That was right there for the taking. He wanted to show them that."
Fact Check: False, image was created using AI
The claim in the online post is false because the shared image is fake and was generated using AI tools.
Searches on Bing and Google found no news outlets or independent political blogs reporting on the fake image. If the image were real, many outlets would have reported on it.
The image combined an AI-generated likeness resembling Erika Kirk's appearance from a CBS News town hall aired on December 13, 2025, with a likeness of Robinson wearing a shirt and tie matching his outfit during a court appearance on January 16, 2026.
Moreover, the AI tool created moments showing Erika and Robinson that did not actually happen during the town hall or court appearance. The image showed Erika Kirk purportedly turning her head to her left and placing her left hand on her face, while Robinson supposedly stared into a camera with an open mouth.
