TRENTON, NEW JERSEY: Amid growing apprehension about the possibility of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents’ deployment at polling stations in the midterms, a rumor began circulating on social media platforms claiming that Rapper Ice Spice is removing ‘Ice’ from her name and will now go by ‘Spice.’ The claim has sparked speculation, with many calling for a fact-check.

According to a viral X post, Ice Spice is reportedly removing ‘Ice’ from her name and will now go by ‘Spice.’

“I don’t want to be associated with ICE in any way,” she allegedly said.

The post has garnered hundreds of thousands of views as of this writing, with many praising the rapper for her decision. A few others criticized her, an indication that many believe the claim is true.

Meanwhile, others dismissed it as fake and called for a fact-check.

Fact Check: The claim originated from a satire account

The claim, however, is false, as there are no reports of the 26-year-old rapper removing ‘Ice’ from her name as a mark of protest against ICE’s aggressive raids.

There are no official statements, announcements, or social media posts from the Grammy Award nominee or her team that support the claim.

If she had really made such a decision, it would not go unreported by prominent news and entertainment media outlets, given the sensationalism of the rumor.

Additionally, the claim was posted by a popular parody account on X called ‘Hoops Crave,’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘Satire.’

Concerns over ICE raids on polling stations

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA - FEBRUARY 04: ICE agents depart the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building on February 4, 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. White House Border Czar Tom Homan announced Wednesday that 700 immigration enforcement personnel would be withdrawn from Minnesota, following weeks of operations and the fatal shooting of two protesters. The claim gained traction amid concerns over the possibility of armed ICE agents’ deployment at polling stations in the midterms, which has been denied by White House border czar Tom Homan.

Appearing on Fox News on Sunday, September 13, Homan clarified that he has not seen “any operational plans or any discussions on any immigration enforcement operation at polling places.”

When asked if there is any truth in claims about ICE agents “raiding” voting stations in the November election, Homan responded, “This is another fear tactic. This is another attack on ICE and this administration.”

“I mean, they don’t want ICE near the polling places, they don’t want to vote for voter ID, they don’t want observers. What have they got to hide to begin with, right? But there is no plan for enforcement action at polling places. It’s just another attempt to smear ICE and smear the president,” he added.
