WASHINGTON, DC: An X post circulated online claiming that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB919 in late March 2026 to rename Palm Beach International Airport as “President Donald J Trump International Airport,” with the change set to take effect on July 1. Notably, Palm Beach International Airport has now been renamed.

The post also shared a FOX News video clip showing Air Force One taking off, alongside images of a Trump-branded aircraft and proposed airport signage, highlighting the airport’s proximity to Mar-a-Lago and referring to Trump as “47.”

Claim: Palm Beach International Airport is now Donald J Trump International Airport

According to an X user @AmericanFirstQ, the post claimed that Palm Beach International Airport had been renamed “Donald J Trump International Airport” after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB919.

The post stated, “JUST IN — IT’S OFFICIAL: Palm Beach International Airport is now Donald J. Trump International Airport,” adding that the name change would take effect on July 1 and concluding, “Congrats, 47.”

The post also included a FOX News video clip showing an Air Force One takeoff, along with images of a Trump-branded aircraft and proposed airport signage, highlighting the airport’s proximity to Mar-a-Lago and referring to Trump as “47.”

It further claimed that reactions on X were divided, with supporters calling it a fitting tribute while critics raised concerns over potential rebranding costs of up to $5.5 million and described the move as narcissistic, citing an ongoing pilot lawsuit over local authority and aviation safety.

The post reportedly gained significant traction, with over 1 million views, thousands of likes and comments.

Some users reacted critically, with one stating, “Isn't this obscene? When do the statues and the massive posters start showing up? We look like a dictatorship,” while another commented, "Why are we placating Trump so much. Here daddy Trump I'll name an airport after you if you continue to play nice... It's pathetic. Why are we placating Trump so much… it’s pathetic.”

The claim that Palm Beach International Airport has already been renamed “Donald J. Trump International Airport” is not true.

Florida has approved a law to rename Palm Beach International Airport as “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” and Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 919 to authorize the change. The legislation sets the effective date for July 1, 2026.

However, the airport has not yet been officially renamed. The process still requires additional steps, including federal approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), before the change becomes fully operational.

Until those requirements are completed and the effective date arrives, the airport continues to operate under its current name.

While lawmakers have passed the renaming measure and the change is scheduled for the future, it is not in effect at present. Therefore, describing the airport as already renamed is premature.

The viral post captures the legislative development but incorrectly presents it as an immediate and finalized change.
