MrBeast was asked by the interviewer if he truly keeps his bank balance lower than $1 million, as he claimed previously. Donaldson noted that he is normally 'laser-focused' on work and does not pay attention to how much money is in his account.

In June 2025, the X page, Dexerto, tweeted that Donaldson was the only billionaire under 30 who did not seem to have inherited his wealth. The YouTuber replied to the tweet, claiming that despite netizens' speculation that he is rich, he is not.

MrBeast claimed that even for his wedding, he is borrowing money from his mother.

Despite revealing his financial situation, many netizens refused to believe him and claimed that his mother works for him and he pays her for that.
