WASHINGTON, DC: A rumor has been circulating on social media platforms claiming that Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was caught cheating with late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel, ending her relationship with a Washington DC socialite, sparking speculations and criticisms amongst social media users.

Let us analyse and fact-check the viral rumor.

According to the viral claim, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ended a two-year relationship after her partner, simply referred to as ‘Washington DC Socialite,’ allegedly discovered that she was involved in an affair with Jimmy Kimmel.

The post further suggests that the alleged relationship began following her appearance on his show in early February. The claim is currently circulating widely on social media platforms such as X, Facebook, and Threads, garnering millions of views.

While many remained skeptical, questioning the authenticity of the claim, a few others believed the claim to be true, triggering criticism against the New York Congresswoman.

Fact Check: The claim originated as a satire

However, the claim is false as there is no evidence supporting the alleged affair between the two.

A search on Google for the claim yielded no credible results by any prominent news media outlets, which, if true, would have been widely covered.

The post is evidently written in a gossip, clickbait style for the sake of engagement.

Moreover, the post was first posted by a parody Facebook page called ‘America’s Last Line of Defense,’ which stated in its bio, ‘Nothing on this page is real.’

A fact check by Grok confirmed this, stating, “This is a fake satirical story from ALLODSatire on Facebook that's gone viral on X. No credible news outlets report any AOC breakup, DC socialite ex, or Jimmy Kimmel affair. She's still engaged to Riley Roberts, with zero evidence otherwise. Pure tabloid fiction.”

AOC says Donald Trump's Iran ceasefire 'changes nothing'

MUNICH, GERMANY - FEBRUARY 13: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district, participates in a Townhall panel on populism at the 62nd Munich Security Conference on February 13, 2026 in Munich, Germany. The conference, which brings together government leaders, security experts and defence ministers, is taking place at a time when the traditional western political and military alliance is facing rupture due to the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump. The claim surfaced as AOC slammed President Donald Trump’s two-week ceasefire with Iran, stating that the ceasefire "changes nothing" regarding the administration's actions.

She argued that the temporary ceasefire does not erase the "catastrophic consequence" of a war launched without the proper legal authority.

AOC remains firm that the temporary deal is a distraction from what she views as a blatant disregard for the law.

She stated, “This statement changes nothing. The President has threatened a... threat against the Iranian people, and is continuing to leverage that threat.”

The Rep believes Trump bypassed the necessary legal channels to initiate conflict, claiming he “launched a massive war of enormous risk and of catastrophic consequence without reason, rationale, nor Congressional authorization - which is as clear a violation of the Constitution as any."
