NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Amid the feud between President Donald Trump and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, a rumor is circulating on social media platforms claiming that O’Donnell was booed at the airport in New York, with people shouting, 'Go back to Ireland.' The claim has sparked concerns and speculation, with many questioning its authenticity.

Claim: Rosie O’Donnell got booed with chant, 'Go back to Ireland'

According to a post that surfaced on X, O’Donnell was heckled and booed by crowds at LaGuardia as she tried to make her way through the airport.

The post alleges that “Go back to Ireland” was the loudest and most repeated chant from New Yorkers. It alleges that New Yorkers criticized her for leaving the US because of political disagreements and that several people expressed feeling betrayed by her decision.

The post further claims that Brooklyn Assemblyman Jeb Narroo called her move "cowardly" and that O'Donnell received a hostile reception from her hometown because she had "renounced America," suggesting that people had moved on and no longer welcomed her back.

The post has garnered mixed reactions from netizens, with many appearing to mock the former ‘The View’ host, while others condemned the alleged reaction of the crowd, suggesting that many believe the claim to be real.

Fact Check: Unconfirmed; the claim is not supported by facts

The claim, however, is false, as there is no credible evidence to substantiate it. A Google search for the claim did not produce any relevant results from prominent news media outlets, which, if true, would have been widely reported, given the long-standing feud between the two.

Additionally, the account that posted the claim is not credible and has posted similar fake and unverified claims likely intended as satire.

According to a fact check by Grok, “The specific claim of her being loudly heckled and booed at LaGuardia Airport with repeated, 'Go back to Ireland' chants on or around July 22, 2026, appears to be circulating primarily on social media but lacks clear confirmation from major news outlets in available reports.”

In a new interview with People on Wednesday, July 22, O'Donnell said that Trump hasn’t “shut up about her for 20 years.”

“It used to be when our president would say things about me, it would be like, whoa,” she said.

“First of all, if you had written this as a movie, a stand-up comic makes fun of a reality show host who is a bloviating idiot and he ends up being the president, and then he doesn’t shut up about her for 20 years, it would be unbelievable — and the fact that it’s my life is very trippy.”
