The viral post on X read, "#Patriots WR Stefon Diggs was arrested early this morning for aggravated assault on a robot outside of a hotel in Santa Clara. He is still expected to play tonight in #SBLX."

Similarly, another post mentioned, "Just In: PREGAME SCENE: New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins arrived barefoot in Santa Clara, California, a few hours before Super Bowl LX kicked off, wearing a face mask that appeared to be a nod to Hannibal Lecter, along with handcuffs around his wrists."

Fact Check: False, rumor originated from a parody account

The claims made in the online rumor are false, as the rumor originated from a parody account that claimed Stefon Diggs was arrested hours before the game.

Moreover, searches on search engines, including Google and Bing, showed no results of any news reports from any credible media outlet. It showed the results of his earlier assault charges.

Interestingly, Diggs is currently facing criminal charges from an alleged December 2025 incident at his home in Dedham, Massachusetts. He faces felony charges for strangulation or suffocation following an alleged assault on a former personal chef during a payment dispute.

As per reports, the chef claims Diggs assaulted her and attempted to choke her using the crook of his elbow during a conversation about unpaid wages.

Moreover, she alleges that Diggs also threw her onto a bed. The incident was reported to police on December 16, and charges were formally filed two weeks later.

As the case is ongoing, Diggs requested a delay in his arraignment, which was originally scheduled for January, until February 13. This allows Diggs to participate in the Super Bowl game without immediate court proceedings.
