LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA: A fast-growing brush fire in Los Angeles County burned 850 acres and triggered an evacuation warning for residents near Fairmont and Neenach as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

The so-called Dora Fire broke out around 3:30 pm on Thursday, August 6, near 210th Street West and Highway 138, close to the community of Neenach in the Antelope Valley.

What began as a roughly 50-acre fire quickly expanded to hundreds of acres, raising concerns among nearby residents.



Dora Fire spreads rapidly across Los Angeles County

The Los Angeles County Fire Department said the blaze had grown to 850 acres since it was first reported.

The rapid spread prompted officials to issue an evacuation warning as the fire continued burning near the Fairmont area.



By 5:30 pm, L.A. County Fire Department officials said an evacuation warning was active for zone LAC-E1614.

The warning came as the fire's footprint grew significantly within a matter of hours.

Authorities had not yet said how many structures could be threatened by the blaze.

Evacuation warning issued as Dora Fire threatens Neenach area

The evacuation warning advised residents in the affected zone to remain prepared to leave if conditions worsened.



The fire's location near Highway 138 and the Neenach community placed the incident under close watch as crews responded to the expanding flames.

The situation remained active Thursday evening, with officials continuing to assess the fire's spread and its potential impact on nearby areas.

Officials investigate cause of 850-acre Dora Fire

While firefighters focused on containing the blaze, the cause of the Dora Fire remained unclear.

According to Cal Fire, investigators had not yet determined what sparked the fire.



Authorities also had not provided an estimate of how many structures may be at risk.

Residents in the affected evacuation-warning zone were urged to remain alert as officials continued monitoring the fire.

Further information about the fire's containment, additional evacuation warnings and possible structural threats had not been provided as firefighters continued their response.
