WASHINGTON, DC: Rudy Giuliani, the former election attorney for Donald Trump, arrived 20 minutes late for his defamation trial in a Washington, DC courtroom, 'visibly' irking District Court Judge Beryl Howell, who presided over the jury trial.

MSNBC's Kyle Griffin shared the news of Giuliani's delay on his X account. "A jury has been seated in Rudy Giuliani's defamation trial. The jury will decide what Giuliani has pay to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss after he was found liable for defaming them. Giuliani arrived 20 minutes late to the proceedings. Judge Howell was visibly annoyed," he posted.

The trial commenced on December 11 to determine how much the former Trump attorney has to pay to two former Georgia election workers whom he defamed with baseless allegations that they committed election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea 'Shaye' Moss, sued Giuliani seeking from $15.5 million to $43 million for damages for "threats, harassment, and harm" they faced due to the false information he spread about them in his alleged effort to undermine the 2020 election results.

Rudy Giuliani found liable in defamation suit

According to CBS News, earlier this year, Judge Beryl Howell had already found the ex-Trump attorney liable for multiple claims in the defamation suit filed by Freeman and Moss.

The courtroom was given proof of the harassment the women faced after Giuliani's smear campaign. After he was seated in the courtroom, the plaintiff's attorney recounted the harassment both the election workers faced. According to WUSA's Jordan Fischer's report from the courtroom, the attorney started with "a montage of voicemails the mother and daughter received".

"They're filled with offensive, violent, and racist language. In one, the caller chants the n-word over and over again. In another, the caller refers to Moss and Freeman as prostitutes," Fischer wrote on X.

Internet annoyed with Rudy Giuliani's tardiness

Social media users are blasting Giuliani for disrespecting the court and being late to the proceedings by almost half an hour. Many reacted on social media, criticizing his arrogance and demanding he should be fined.

One user said, "Shouldn't have been allowed, fine him."

Another user said, "Giuliani was late?? How arrogant of him. There seems to be no consequences for his or Trumps behavior in respect to courts and judges. They get away with bad behavior."

"Lock him up and bring him to the court when he has to appear. He'll always be on time," a visibly annoyed third user stated.

A fourth user remarked, "For every minute late, increase the damages by 1% (compound, natch)."

"Rudy is another one. He just thinks he could do what he wants and seems to be doing just that," added one user.

Another shared a meme with the caption "Pissing off the judge before the judge decides his punishment."

"Hold him in contempt," noted another user.
