NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On the Thursday, January 11 episode of 'Fox & Friends', Kendrick Morales, a former professor at Atlanta's Spelman College, joined host Lawrence Jones to discuss claims regarding his expulsion, as per Fox News

According to Morales, the oldest historically Black private liberal arts college for women in America fired him after he had refused to offer his economics students better scores on their assignments and set them simpler tasks.

The school apparently did improve the grade anyway before letting him know about his dismissal.

He noted, "They definitely applied some pressure on me to raise grades above what I thought was reasonable, which I thought was totally against what I was supposed to do."

Morales added, "I thought I was responsible for setting academic standards and making sure that the grades and degrees the school was conferring actually held its value."

Kendrick Morales alleged Spelman College had an 'incentive problem'

As per Morales' standards, the performance of the students was dismal, as he calculated that 44% of his former class would continue to fail even after receiving altered grades.

He blamed the administrators for the situation, saying that they yielded to pupils when the latter complained instead of motivating them to work harder.

The experience at Spelman has made Morales question his future in academia, as he shared, "I thought, in terms of going for an academic position, that I would be able to have autonomy and not have administrators kind of meddle with grades and meddle with the incentive structure that I was trying to put in place."

"I'm not really sure if it's viable for me to continue as an academic," expressed the ex-professor.

Spelman College shares statement concerning the dismissal of Kendrick Morales

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Spelman College shared, "At the heart of the Spelman College experience is the academically rigorous program we offer our students. Meaningful and effective classroom engagement is the hallmark of a Spelman education."

It continued, "The College, its administrators, and faculty exercise appropriate judgment in the delivery of our learning activities in order to maintain consistency across Spelman’s campus. Spelman College has reviewed this matter and has no further comment on the opinions of this former faculty member," they added.
