LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fox News host Shannon Bream didn't shy away from tough questions when interviewing Republican Senator Tom Cotton about former president Donald Trump’s purported peace plan for the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

During the interview on Fox News Sunday, Bream delved into reports suggesting that Trump's strategy to resolve the conflict involves pressuring Ukraine to relinquish control of territories like Crimea and parts of Donbas to Russia.

Shannon Bream raised concerns about whether such a plan would essentially amount to rewarding Russian President Vladimir Putin for his aggression, Newsweek reported.

"There are reports that what President Trump plans to do to end that conflict is to potentially push Ukraine to give up Crimea, parts of Donbas," Bream stated. "If that is the plan, do you agree with that strategy? And would that be rewarding Putin in order to wrap this thing up in the way that he intended to start it — and take some of that territory? Is that just giving him what he wanted?" she asked.

Tom Cotton reaffirms Donald Trump's support for Ukraine

Senator Tom Cotton responded by disputing the accuracy of the reports and asserting Donald Trump's unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and resilience. He also emphasized Trump's positive rapport with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his tenure.

“President Trump and his campaign have said that any reports of plans like that are not authorized, and they’re not coming from the president himself,” Cotton said.

“Furthermore, President Trump has said that he strongly supports Ukraine’s strength and survival. He had a strong relationship when he was in office with President Zelensky.”

Cotton's remarks come amid speculation that he is among the top contenders for Trump's vice presidential nomination alongside seven other Republicans.

Internet divided over Donald Trump's alleged foreign policy stance

Users on various social media platforms voiced a range of opinions regarding the allegations surrounding former president Donald Trump's approach to international relations, particularly concerning Ukraine.

One social media user wrote, "I guarantee you that Trump sells out Ukraine, Taiwan, and even South Korea. That's just the tip of the iceberg that's coming if Trump gets elected."

Another added, "Trump has a habit of selling out us friends and allies."

One person said, "This is your reminder that Trumps first impeachment was because he illegally tried to extort Ukraine into announcing a phony investigation into his main political rival."

Another replied, "That’s some deep BS there. Trump hates Z. And caves to Putin."

One individual commented, "Trump wants revenge on Zelensky (and countless others), and would be more than happy to sacrifice Ukraine to get it."

Another said, "The Republican Party is a cult."
