CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Chris Ager, chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, stated on Friday that former Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, can “absolutely” win the Republican presidential primary in New Hampshire.

According to RealClearPolitics poll average, Haley currently holds second place in New Hampshire, with 24.8% support. However, with less than four weeks remaining before the primary on January 23, she trails former President Donald Trump by 21.5 percentage points.

What did New Hampshire GOP Chair Chris Ager reveal on Friday?

Ager told 77WABC’s ‘Cats & Cosby Show’ host John Catsimatidis, “Expect the unexpected. You just don’t know what’s going to happen. The polling … over the past 6, 8 months has been that President Trump is in pretty good shape. But Nikki Haley has been making a surge.”

He said, “I would say that Nikki Haley absolutely has the potential to win the New Hampshire primary. It’s absolutely possible. She’s been here very frequently, and every time she comes, she does a Town Hall, and she takes questions from the audience unscripted, anybody.”

The employment of this tactic in public communication, as highlighted by Nikki Haley, is not without its risks, as evidenced earlier this week, when she was met with criticism after responding to a question at a town hall meeting in Berlin, New Hampshire, regarding the cause of the Civil War.

Haley's overarching response, however, failed to acknowledge slavery as one of the causes of the American Civil War leading to a severe backlash online.

The following day, she clarified her stance by acknowledging that slavery was indeed a significant factor in the Civil War.

Furthermore, Haley accused the Biden campaign and the Democratic Party of arranging a "plant" to pose the Civil War question and sabotage her event.

According to a report by the New York Post, Ager mentioned two upcoming debates in New Hampshire early in the new year, one on January 18 hosted by ABC News and WMUR-TV, and another on January 21 airing on CNN, adding that with same-day voting, "somebody catches fire, this is the place they can do that."

The former UN ambassador received the support of popular Republican New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu earlier this month, which gave her a much needed leg-up in her chances against her Republican peers DeSantis, Ramaswamy, and Christie in the upcoming election.

Haley gathered a crowd of more than three hundred people to her final rally of the year in New Hampshire on Friday, December 29, before heading to Iowa for additional campaigning ahead of the Hawkeye State's all-important January 15 caucus.
