Trump brings showbiz to Nebraska rally: 5 big moments including Natalie Harp’s surprise onstage cameo

Trump added another title to his résumé when Nebraska Gov Jim Pillen named him an “admiral” in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska during the rally. The designation is an honorary Nebraska tradition rather than a military rank — particularly fitting for a state without a coastline. Pillen presented Trump with the honor as he welcomed the president to Grand Island. Trump appeared amused by his new title, telling the crowd, “I’ve always wanted to be an admiral.”

The rally briefly doubled as a presidential signing ceremony when Trump signed an executive order concerning the use of tax-exempt red-dyed diesel, which is generally reserved for agricultural and other off-road purposes. Trump presented the move as relief for farmers and other diesel users, saying, “This will lower costs for farmers, truckers and everybody else.” The administration said the temporary action was intended to expand access to the lower-cost fuel. After displaying the signed document, Trump dramatically threw the signing pen into the crowd.

Trump also invited Jacqueline Medina of Grand Island onto the stage. Medina spoke about her family's experience with immigration and her support for Trump's immigration policies. Trump stood beside her as she addressed the crowd, creating one of the evening's more personal images away from the traditional podium setup. Trump also used the rally to recognize figures with Nebraska connections, including former Cornhuskers volleyball player Rebekah Allick, adding several local touches to an event.

One of the night's most visually distinctive moments arrived when Trump summoned executive assistant Natalie Harp onto the stage as he prepared to sign an executive order. “Where is Natalie?” Trump asked before Harp emerged carrying the document. He then introduced his longtime aide to the crowd and praised her work. Trump described Harp as a “perfect person” and joked about her entrance, saying, “This is like The Price Is Right.” Photographers captured Harp smiling as she approached the president with the paperwork. Harp is frequently visible accompanying Trump aboard presidential travel and around the White House, but her appearance alongside him on the rally stage gave photographers a less familiar image of the aide.

After more than an hour of remarks, guest appearances and the unusual onstage executive-order signing, Trump closed the rally with a scene familiar from his campaign events. As the Village People's “Y.M.C.A.” played through the venue, photographers captured Trump smiling, pumping his fists and performing his familiar dance before leaving the stage. “We’re going to win, win, win,” Trump told supporters toward the end of his remarks.
