Trump’s Great American State Fair turns National Mall into fairground with 110-foot Ferris wheel, triumphal arch, rodeos
WASHINGTON, DC: Promising to be one of the marquee events celebrating the United States' 250th anniversary, the Great American State Fair officially opened on June 24, transforming the National Mall into a sprawling showcase of the nation’s diverse cultures and traditions. President Donald Trump first introduced the project, a modern World’s Fair, during his 2023 campaign. Three years later, the 16-day festival has come to life with a political rally headlined by the President. Although controversy has overshadowed the event, with several artists withdrawing over claims that the celebration had become overly politicized, the Great American State Fair opened in spectacular fashion, featuring more than 150 exhibits representing all 50 states and US territories. It also includes a giant Ferris wheel and a scaled-down version of the president’s proposed Triumphal Arch in front of the Washington Monument.
