Jason Sudeikis revives Ted Lasso to give Justin Bieber surprise intro at FIFA World Cup halftime show

Jason Sudeikis appeared looking like his popular character Ted Lasso as he introduced Justin Bieber during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Halftime Show. Before the Canadian singer impressed the crowd with his voice, the comedian gave him a pep talk.

Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso did not walk the stadium alone as he was joined by Brendan Hunt, the co-creator of the Apple TV sitcom. The 50-year-old began, "Coach, I gotta say, first half of halftime knocked my darn socks off. How the heck is anyone gonna follow all that?" He then added, "You know what I think we need? We need some heart. You know, someone who has soul. Someone who can bring the love. Ooo. You thinking what I’m thinking?"

As Justin Bieber entered the MetLife Stadium on July 19 holding his acoustic guitar in hand, Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso told him, "All right, young man. Let’s go! It’s your big shot. OK. Listen to me. Go out there. Don’t be nervous. Nobody’s watching. Make us proud."

For his half-time performance, Justin Bieber chose to sing an acoustic version of his track 'Everything Hallelujah' from his 'Swag II' album. The Canadian pop star was joined by Madonna, Shakira, and BTS as co-headliners for the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show.

Brendan Hunt went all out to support Justin Bieber before his performance, as he not only revived Coach Beard from 'Ted Lasso,' but also held up a board to introduce the singer at the New York New Jersey Stadium. US President Donald Trump also witnessed Bieber's performance during the halftime show.
