Met Gala 2026 Worst Dressed: Margot Robbie, Olivia Wilde, Kylie Jenner and other stars who missed the mark

Margot Robbie returned to the Met Gala after her last appearance in 2023’s ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,’ once again opting for Chanel. This time the ‘Wuthering Heights’ star helped Matthieu Blazy debut for the brand at the Met Gala. While the actress never fails to bring her charm to events, her look for this year’s gala fell flat. For a dress that took Chanel 761 hours to make and featured 1,100 pieces of embroidery, the gold lame gown failed to leave a mark despite an otherwise gorgeous cascading train. 

The actress-filmmaker arrived at the event wearing a Thom Browne dress that appeared classic from the front but turned out to be in the back. Olivia Wilde donned a simple black satin gown with off-shoulder straps that also featured a white tulle. But while the ensemble appeared elegant overall, a structural cage attached at the back of the tulle gave Wilde a rather strange appearance. Whether the prop was added to elevate the style or define the ‘Fashion is Art’ theme remained unclear.

Kylie Jenner is a surprising addition to the list as she usually stuns her way through red carpets. Unfortunately, the reality TV star failed to bring her usual scene-stealer vibe to the Met Gala this year. Kylie donned a custom Schiaparelli gown with a skin-color corset, accentuating her faux features. The beauty mogul paired the piece with an embroidered off-white satin skirt stitched in a way to make it appear that she was slipping out of her dress. While the effort was visible, the outfit failed to hit the mark and seemed a variant of her previous looks. 

Surprisingly, another member of the Kardashian-Jenner family also wound up on the list this year. Similar to her sister, Kendall Jenner’s look failed to impress. The supermodel attempted to channel a Greek goddess in a Zac Posen Gap Studio outfit inspired by the Winged Victory of Samothrace statue. The dress is reported to be made from a blend of leather, chiffon and organza. While the designer said that the outfit had “so much life in it,” the lack of colors or drama really made this one a rare misstep for Kendall Jenner.

The tennis legend opted for a metallic silver halter-neck one-shoulder Marc Jacobs dress paired with a skirt that was floor-length on one side and above the thigh on the other. Serena Williams paired the outfit with jewelry from David Yurman, an Audemars Piguet watch and golden heels strapped to her right leg. While she attempted to offer a new take on Gladiator sandal, the overall outfit and look failed to leave any memorable impression.
