Trump sweetly stops toddler wandering off stage, and other times he showed his 'grandpa side'

During Trump's July 22 appearance in Marietta, Georgia, families joined the president onstage as he promoted Trump Accounts. Trump was seen bending down to meet the youngest guests, taking hands and keeping an eye on the children as the adults addressed the crowd.

At the same event, a young girl surprised Trump with a bracelet for his 19-year-old granddaughter, Kai. The girl's family was invited onstage, and her father spoke about opening Trump investment accounts for each of their four children. The young girl then walked up to the president and appeared to give him the bracelet. Trump accepted the gift warmly, prompting a big smile from the girl.

On October 10, 2016, during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Trump invited a baby dressed as him to the podium. He spotted two-year-old Hunter Tirpak in the crowd, dressed as a miniature version of himself – dark suit, red tie, blond Trump-style hair, and a large “VOTE” button – and called attention to him. The crowd began urging Trump to bring the toddler up, and the boy was eventually passed forward to the stage.

Trump marked the launch of Trump Accounts by ringing the opening bells of both the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq from the Oval Office – the first time the two exchanges held the ceremony there together. Children were positioned prominently around the historic room for the event. As Trump pulled the rope to ring the large ceremonial bell, the children watched, clapped, and reacted around him.

Trump's latest display of his affectionate side came at Red Rock Casino Resort on August 5, when a Las Vegas family joined him onstage as he promoted Trump Accounts. As the family talked and the president listened, one of the family's toddlers wandered to the edge of the stage. Trump spotted him and instinctively nudged the toddler away from the edge. He then turned the endearing moment into a political joke, saying he didn't want the boy to "be Biden and fall," a reference to former President Joe Biden's well-documented onstage stumbles. The instinctive reaction offered an unusually playful glimpse of the 80-year-old president.
