Gisele Bundchen makes rare comment on welcoming a baby at 44: ‘Such a gift’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gisele Bundchen got candid about becoming a mother for the third time at the age of 44.
The supermodel welcomed a son in February 2025 with Joaquim Valente, whom she married in December 2025. She was earlier married to Tom Brady from 2009 to 2022, and they share two children — son Benjamin, 16, and daughter Vivian, 13.
Gisele Bundchen says she's 'not defined by other people’s opinions'
Now in a new interview for i-D 377’s cover story, published on Thursday, September 10, Bundchen shared, “Having a baby at this moment of my life is such a gift, because I’m in a different place. I don’t have anything to prove. I don’t feel like I really, quite frankly, care.”
“I’m not defined by other people’s opinions. I feel like I get to choose how I want to live my life,” she added.
Gisele Bundchen calls her youngest son 'funny'
About her youngest child, Bundchen said, “He’s so funny. I mean, he’s 16 months and he saw that I was cleaning the park—because Miami, it’s so damp all the time!—and he wanted to participate and he felt really good about it.”
She went on to explain that “kids give us this opportunity to live again, to be more present and to experience life again. To do it maybe differently than we’ve done it before. I don’t know. I find every little thing so amazing.”
Gisele Bundchen wants her children to 'feel like I was a great mum'
Elsewhere in the interview, the mother-of-three revealed how her decisions now revolve around her children.
“I say no to 99 percent of the jobs I’m offered because, when I put it on the scale, I’m like, ‘Am I going to miss my daughter’s volleyball game? Am I going to miss going to the park with my son? Am I going to miss my son DJing?” she stated.
Bundchen added that she wants her “kids to feel like I was a great mum and that I helped them become the best version of themselves. I want to feel like I lived striving to be the best version of myself. Hopefully, I can look back and say I did it.”
Gisele Bundchen previously said 'becoming a mother again reshaped everything'
This came months after Bundchen expressed her gratitude towards life as she ended 2025 on a high note.
In an Instagram post shared on December 31, 2025, she wrote, “As 2025 comes to an end, my heart is full. This year brought deep lessons and profound growth. Becoming a mother again reshaped everything—my time, my priorities, my heart.”
“I’m grateful for these sacred moments that changed me in ways words can’t fully hold. Thank you, 2025. I step into this new year with gratitude, love, and trust for what’s next,” she noted.
