WASHINGTON, DC: Sen John Fetterman addressed Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Sunday, May 19, in response to her criticism of his remarks during a House hearing last week that ridiculed the chaotic, Jerry Springer-like ambiance, in which the progressive member of the House disparaged Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, as per The Hill.

Notably, in a social media post, Fetterman stated that the insult-filled hearing had reached a new low and that he wanted to apologize to the 'Jerry Springer Show'.

John Fetterman hits back at AOC’s suggestion

Ocasio-Cortez retaliated against Fetterman, who has been facing criticism from progressives on Israel's assault in Gaza in recent weeks, asserting that her stance was to defend her colleagues from bullies.

Ocasio-Cortez posted on Friday, May 17, on the social platform X, "I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue. But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one. And to the women of Pennsylvania: I’d stand up for you too. Enjoy your Friday."

Fetterman called her critique ridiculous. When asked to address AOC's criticism of him on CNN's State of the Union. Fetterman informed co-host Jake Tapper, "That’s absurd. I was just simply responding to the kind of chaos and everything that Representative Greene started as well."

He added, "And if everyone on the committee was proud of what they’ve produced, they’re entitled to their opinion. Or if they feel that this is the kind of video that you want to send to a classroom of eighth-grade civics kind of students across America, again, that’s their choice."

Notably, after Greene questioned Democratic members of the committee about whether any of them are hiring the daughter of the judge supervising former President Donald Trump's hush money case, lawmakers became agitated during the House hearing on Thursday, May 16, night, to consider holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.
