WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Jared Moskowitz removed a social media post on Monday, April 6, about South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem's visit with Kim Jong Un after it was claimed that the post perpetuated the myth that Asians are dog eaters, as per The Hill.

The comments were made in a video that Moskowitz reposted from an interview with Noem, who is a possible vice presidential candidate for former President Trump. The governor talked about her desire to have anecdotal evidence concerning her encounter with Kim removed from her new book, 'No Going Back'.

In the video, Noem refrained from answering queries regarding the veracity of the story after concerns were voiced the previous week, saying instead that she 'should not have' included it in the book.

In allusion to Noem's separate admission in her soon-to-be-published book that she shot and murdered her 14-month-old puppy around 20 years ago, Moskowitz reposted the clip on social media platform X.

He wrote, "Why am I getting the feeling that she wanted to eat dog with Kim Jong Un." The inflammatory and untrue notion that Asians eat dogs was swiftly attributed to the post and a few hours later, it was removed.

Moskowitz deleted the tweet because he did not "want it to be misconstrued and offend the broader community," according to a statement he provided with The Hill. He added, "I condemn those stereotypes and would never want to feed into them."

Notably, Politico reported that the two Korean American Democrats in the House offered their opinions on the matter. Reps Andy Kim (D-NJ) and Marilyn Strickland (D-Wash) said in a statement, "While we appreciate our colleague standing up to GOP extremism, we cannot perpetuate harmful stereotypes in the process. We thank Rep. Moskowitz for apologizing and taking down his tweet."

Later, Politico reporter Nicholas Wu took a screenshot of the Florida Democrat's since-deleted tweet and responded, saying, "Rep. Moskowitz using a stereotype here about Asians and dogs."

Moskowitz replied, "I have a tremendous respect for Nick as a fantastic journalist. I made a joke about 2 specific people. No one else. However, I would never want to be insensitive and feed into a stereotype. He called me out, deserved."

Internet trolls Jared Moskowitz for his now-deleted post on X

Several internet users trolled Jared Moskowitz over the gaffe.

A user posted on X, "God he stinks," while one added, "What a disgusting man. We need to keep stuff like this on file for 2026."

A person wrote, "Only the “chosen” could survive a career ender like this," whereas one mentioned, "That would be a career ender if he was a republican."

A person added, "Sounds like a dumb thing to tweet."
