WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Claudia Tenney (R-NY) faced intense backlash as she apparently invoked racist stereotypes while attacking presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during a Fox News interview on Friday, July 26.

While talking to Larry Kudlow, the congresswoman ridiculed the vice president, calling her a "DEI hire" and accusing her of being "uninformed and lazy."

Claudia Tenney says Vice President Kamala Harris' record is abysmal before calling her a 'DEI hire'

Claudia Tenney told Fox News' Larry Kudlow, "You've got to be careful of Kamala Harris. She cackles. It's easy to meme her and make fun of her, and make some kind of attack about her personality. But her real record is abysmal."

She claimed, "The fact that Joe Biden blatantly stated that he hired Kamala Harris because she was... basically a Diversity Equity and Inclusion hire. He wanted to hire a Black woman or person, a minority woman," and suggested, "But, I think Trump needs to be careful here. We need to really focus on her record and I think it's important because her record is terrible."

The congresswoman then went on to state, "The bottom line for me is that she is uninformed, she is lazy, and she is just going to go out there and try to run this fluff campaign. I think the best attack on her is to go at her on substance because she doesn't have any. You scratch the surface with her, you get more surface."

Kudlow quickly jumped in to mention that he was not endorsing the statement of Harris being a "DEI hire."

Internet rips Claudia Tenney over her remarks on Kamala Harris

Claudia Tenney's remarks about Kamala Harris did not sit well with netizens, who warned her that such an outlook may cost Republicans the general election.

One remarked, "The racism continues," and another said, "Racism doesn't sell with the majority of voters. They are going to find that out."

"The more they race bait, the more they will lose in November," warned a person, while someone else added, "And this is part of the reason why Republicans are going to get crushed. They can’t help themselves. The racism and misogyny is hard for them to control."

"They’re not even using dog whistles anymore. This is just blatant racism," declared an individual. One more observed, "Despicable, yet not surprising. Again, if this is all they've got, they're in trouble."

"Race is their campaign," stated another person, with a netizen saying, "Won't work. But please, do keep it up. Their racism needs to be on full display. We will reject this hate!!"
