LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer Gracie Abrams can't stop praising Taylor Swift. During a recent interview, the 'Hit the Wall' singer shared how Swift's career path has greatly influenced her own career, personal life, and the way she views fame.

Abrams revealed that watching her friend Swift navigate her career has played a huge role in "helping her feel less precious" with her "ego." It appears the singer has now found a balance between her professional and personal life, and she can't help but thank her friend, the 'White Horse' singer.

How Taylor Swift shaped Gracie Abrams' career

During an interview with Rolling Stone, the "That's So True" singer opened up about her approach to life and her career. The 30-year-old singer credited her friend and 'Us' collaborator Swift for inspiring her to better balance her career, fame, personal life, and her "ego."

Abrams brought up Swift while discussing how listeners sometimes analyze and scrutinize her songs without fully understanding how they relate to her real life.

According to Abrams, she is "comfortable" with however her audience chooses to interpret her music. “I’m comfortable with the reality that people will interpret my music from their own personal point of view, and I understand the position from which I’m writing,” she shared.

“But sometimes the way that things present are not how they feel inside,” added Abrams.

“In some core ways, there are aspects to this whole thing that feel at odds with my nervous system, personally, and there’s total confusion and guilt and shame associated with that feeling, for sure. You can become untethered from yourself quite quickly if you’re not careful.”

The 'I Love You, I'm Sorry' singer then shared that watching Swift navigate fame has shaped her own approach.

“Something I’ve admired so much about Taylor (Swift)’s career, as a forever fan, is her output, not just from a place of a quantity, but seemingly from a place of freedom within herself, to just be like, ‘Yep, here’s the nutshell from this time,’” she said.

“I think her years of experience tuning out feedback, quote, unquote, that’s (the result of) an earned relationship one has with themselves,” Abrams praised. “And that’s helped me feel less precious, with my ego, about being like, ‘Ooh, six months from now, am I not going to relate to this so much?’ Who cares? I love it," she added.

The track earned a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Looking back, Abrams has consistently praised Swift over the years. In a 2024 interview with The Sunday Times, she described the pop superstar as both a friend and a mentor, calling her “a safe place to land any time I’ve ever had questions about anything.”
