LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Halle Berry’s ex-husband Olivier Martinez has opened up about his hopes for their 13-year-old son, Maceo, amid their ongoing custody dispute.

The actor said he wanted Maceo to maintain a loving relationship with his mother and hoped he would eventually forgive her despite the tensions surrounding the former couple's legal battle. His comments came after a recent court ruling left Martinez with primary physical custody of their son, while Berry’s parenting time remained restricted.

Olivier Martinez wants Maceo and Halle Berry to rebuild their relationship

Speaking to Extra, Martinez said he hoped his son and Berry could develop a better relationship in the future. He made it clear that he did not want Maceo to hold resentment toward his mother.

“I truly hope Maceo and his mother will be able to have a better relationship in the future. I don’t want my son to hate his mom. I want him to love her. I want him to forgive her. And I want them to reconciliate in some sort at one point,” Martinez said.

The actor's remarks reflected his hope that the ongoing disagreements between the former couple would not affect the relationship between Maceo and his mother in the long run.

Martinez had also spoken briefly outside the courthouse after the latest hearing, saying his priority was peace for his son.

“What I wanted is peace… peace for my son. He has [gotten] through a lot. Too much,” he said

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez's custody arrangement after the latest court ruling

The comments came after a Los Angeles judge dissolved the temporary restraining order against Berry and denied Martinez's request to make it permanent. However, the existing temporary custody arrangement remained in place, giving Martinez primary physical custody of their 13-year-old son.

Berry's visits were currently limited to set daytime hours, with no overnight stays. The former couple continued to share legal custody, while Berry reportedly retained tie-breaking authority on certain decisions.

In a statement to USA TODAY, Berry's attorney, Marina Beck, said, "We are extremely pleased that the Court has dissolved the TRO. As we move forward, Halle is determined to continue to focus on the well-being and best interests of her family."

Martinez's attorney described the decision as a “huge victory” for his client, according to TMZ, which first reported the court's decision.

Over the years, the former couple have had disagreements over parenting arrangements and decisions related to Maceo. Their custody dispute has also involved disagreements over how decisions concerning their son should be handled.

The 'Catwoman' actress is also mom to 18-year-old daughter Nahla Aubry, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

"Having lived with my mom my entire life and having personally observed her relationship with Maceo for years, the allegations are completely inconsistent with the mom I know," Aubry wrote.
