KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker announced his endorsement of GOP nominee Donald Trump in the upcoming election on 'The Ingraham Angle,' Fox News reported on Friday, October 11.

The NFL star appeared on the show alongside US Sen Josh Hawley (R) while he made the announcement, and referred to Trump as the "most pro-life president."

Butker was notably embroiled in a controversy over his stance on the subject earlier this year when he gave the commencement speech at Benedictine College in May.

Harrison Butker endorses Donald Trump

Harrison Butker had gone on Laura Ingraham's show to promote Hawley when the anchor asked if he would extend his support to the party nominee Trump as well.

"I’m supporting the president that’s going to be the most pro-life president, and I think Donald Trump is the most pro-life president," the kicker said in response.

"That's a topic that is the most crucial topic for me. I want us to be fighting for the most vulnerable, fighting for the unborn, and that’s what we should prioritize."

Butker has stood firm and unapologetic on his beliefs regarding reproductive rights and has strongly opposed abortion, IVF, surrogacy, and other healthcare, claiming that they were at odds with his Catholic faith.

Harrison Butker's controversial commencement address

During his speech at the Benedictine College in May, Butker had claimed that women were being deceived with "diabolical lies" not to prioritize their role as a wife and mother over their careers.

Putting his Catholic faith forward, Butker staunchly opposed birth control, stating that there was "nothing natural" about it. He was also opposed to all reproductive healthcare in general, including abortion, IVF, surrogacy, and so on. While his speech was strongly criticized, Butker never backed from his opinions.

Internet claims Harrison Butker's endorsement of Trump was obvious

Netizens reacting to the news on the social media platform X appeared unsurprised by the development and continued to call out Butker for his stance. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Least shocking news of 2024," wrote a user.

"This will help Trump's support among all the women whose husbands don't let them vote," mocked another.

"We already knew he hates women this isn’t surprising," jibed a third.

"Of course he’s voting Trump. He already said women belong in the kitchen," shared a fourth.

"He's a misogynistic NFL kicker, no one cares," quipped a fifth.
