LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Celebrated comedian Kathy Griffin recently filed for divorce from her husband, Randy Bick, citing 'irreconcilable differences'.

The decision comes after three years of marriage, with Griffin expressing the belief that the divorce was the only way to reclaim her zest for life.

Griffin, 63, filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court last Thursday, December 28.

Because she was 'growing apart' from Bick, 45, the pop-culture personality believed that divorce was her only option. 

According to insiders, Griffin, 63, and Bick, 45, grew apart as their interests and aspirations diverged.

Griffin, known for her lively and adventurous spirit, felt that Bick had become too much of a 'homebody', lacking the same enthusiasm for life. Despite still having feelings for her ex-husband, Griffin believed that ending the marriage was necessary for her personal growth.

"Kathy was in love and is still in love with her ex and as heartbroken she is with how this all has turned out, Kathy loves living life," an insider said.

"She always wants to have fun. She wants to travel and do things with a man she loves who has the same aspirations."

"Kathy is just over 60 but still feels in her thirties and wants to enjoy life and has a fun and focused outlook on life and Randy did share that with her."

"Kathy hates that it has ended this way, but she needed to be Kathy again, and this was the only way she was going to get there," added the insider.

The couple first crossed paths at a food and wine festival in 2011 and tied the knot in 2020 in a ceremony officiated by fellow comedian Lily Tomlin. Griffin, known for her candidness, has previously spoken openly about her relationship with Bick, admitting that her initial impression was that he was a 'man-w***e.'

Griffin made the announcement of their separation on Instagram, expressing her struggle with the situation. During New Year celebrations, she sought support from friends, including actress Jane Fonda.

After New Year's celebrations, the actress told her social media followers she had contacted her friend and actress Jane Fonda, 86.

She wrote: "My girlfriends are going to get me through this. Last night I had to use the bat phone. Me…“Fonda, it’s Griffin. My heart is broken. I can’t eat I can’t sleep.” Jane…”Come on over kid. I’ll make you something. You’ll eat and I’ll listen.”
