Hector Matute: Cops release photo of accused who shot dead Texas mom-daughter duo as manhunt continues

IRVING, TEXAS: Irving Police Department has released photos of 33-year-old Hector Matute, who is accused of killing 23-year-old Nayeli Bolanos Medina and her mother, 56-year-old Juana Medina Rodriguez.

The mother and daughter were shot in their apartment. Earlier, the police said that the shooter is still on the run.The family of the deceased mother and daughter are now demanding justice. Candles and flowers covered the front steps of the Irving apartment where the crime was committed.

Who is Hector Matute? 

Irving police say Hector Matute, who is also known as Hector Paguada, knew the victims, but the motive for the shooting is unclear at this time.

The police added, Matute allegedly shot the mother and daughter just before 9 pm last Friday, January 19 at the Park Springs apartments on West Irving Boulevard. He’s been on the run since.

Elvis Alberto Medina (Juana's son) told Fox 4 he’s never met Matute but says his mom and sister knew him.

Elvis doesn’t know why Matute would be at the same apartment as his mom, sister and his sister’s 5-year-old son. He says the son witnessed the shooting.

Hector Matute's motive behind killings unknown 

Irving police officials said that the motive of shooting is still not known. They only shared that Matute knew the victims.

Matute has a warrant for capital murder in connection to the incident. "When I got the news, I was in shock," Tamara, Juana Medina's bestfriend said.

"Juana’s always gonna be remembered as a beautiful person in my heart, always," the friend added. 

Tamara says her friend, "loved being a grandma. It’s sad to hear he’s gonna be left without a mom and a grandma. He didn’t deserve that, no child does," she said.

Elvis is still processing life without his mom and sister.

He is pleading with anyone who knows Matute or knows where he is to get in touch with the police so that justice can be served for his mother and sister. He wants Matute to be apprehended.

The family is receiving assistance from the El Salvadorian consulate in Dallas with funeral preparations so that the mother and daughter can be buried in their native nation.

Anybody with information regarding Matute's whereabouts is asked to contact their local police department, according to Irving police.

They say no one should attempt to contact or apprehend him.
