Hudson Joseph Meek gave five people the gift of life

Hudson Joseph Meek met with a fatal accident in Vestavia Hills at 10.45 pm on December 19, Thursday, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. He was taken to the UAB Hospital in Birmingham but succumbed to his injuries within 48 hours on December 21.

Being an organ donor, even in death, the young actor came as a blessing to multiple families in desperate need.

Speaking at her son's memorial service, Lani reportedly told the audience, "Guys, he would be so proud to have known that on Christmas Eve, five families learned that their loved ones would be receiving life-saving organs."

"So on Christmas Day, Hudson saved five lives. He'd be so, so proud of that," she added.

In his honor, Meek's family created the Hudson J Meek Memorial Scholarship which would support a Vestavia Hills High School student each year. They have requested donations to the scholarship to be made over Venmo (HudsonMeekScholarship) or Wells Fargo (Account #5908190381).

Church memorial service for Hudson Joseph Meek

The live-streamed memorial service for Meek, whose most popular role was the younger version of the protagonist in the 2017 action flick 'Baby Driver', went on for 93 minutes.

The church choir opened the ceremony with a moving rendition of 'I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,' a 2008 song by Casting Crown, since Meek died only 4 days ahead of Christmas.

The ceremony was conducted by Dawson Memorial Baptist Church senior pastor Dr David Eldridge, who had also baptized the actor in 2008.

Among loved ones sharing their fondest memory of Meek were his parents Lani and Derek, who recalled the amusing story of how the teenager had once joined a group of twerking dancers in New Orleans.
