‘I regret it’: Thomas Ravenel apologizes to Olivia Flowers for claiming that she 'used' him

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former 'Southern Charm' star Thomas Ravenel issued a public apology to Olivia Flowers after making controversial remarks about their past encounter.

Ravenel had claimed that Flowers used him to get on the reality show 'Southern Charm' during an interview with All About The Tea.

In the apology posted on X (formerly Twitter), Ravenel expressed regret for his comments and clarified that he was not trying to hurt Flowers. He acknowledged that a throwaway line he made in the interview had unintended consequences and sincerely apologized to Flowers. Ravenel emphasized his respect for her as a person and friend.

“I’d like to make a statement about my interview concerning Olivia Flowers. I was not trying to hurt her,” the former politician wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, January 19.

“When I thought the interview was over, I stupidly made what I thought was a self-deprecating remark that ‘MAYBE she used me'."

He continued, “I had no idea that would be the story and I sincerely apologize to her. I have the utmost respect for her as a person and friend. It was a stupid throw away line and I regret it.”

Ravenel expressed regret for his comments and clarified that he was not trying to hurt Flowers.

During the Season 9 reunion of 'Southern Charm,' it was revealed that Ravenel and Flowers had a one-night stand, leading to subsequent comments by Ravenel in the interview. He had alleged that Flowers used him to gain entry into the Bravo reality show and provided details about their encounter.

“She used me! Olivia was in Atlanta pursuing an acting career and she wanted to get on that show ('Southern Charm'), that’s why she befriended me,” he claimed.

“She was 24 years old (at the time) NOT 20, like she claimed on the reunion,” he further alleged. “It was a fun evening and one thing led to another after she invited me to her condo,” he continued. “After that night, I never called her again. It was a one time deal.”

Ravenel — who appeared on the show from 2014 to 2018 — said, “I would have never acknowledged having s*x with her until they brought me up at the reunion.”

During the interview, Ravenel apologized for misleading Kathryn Dennis, claiming he had not cheated on her with Flowers.

Ravenel and Dennis, who share two children, have been off and on since 2013-2016. It was in 2021 that Dennis and Flowers became close friends.

“I was mostly trying to get the facts straight which proved she didn’t betray her friendship with Kathryn Dennis,” he commented.

Flowers, in response to the revelations during the reunion, had maintained that the hookup happened when she was 20 and fresh out of college. She clarified that she did not know Ravenel's ex and her now friend, Kathryn Dennis, at the time of the incident.

Flowers said. “I was fresh out of college, 20 years old, dumb drunken night, one time, had a hookup with T-Rav, and I wanted to take to my grave. Who wouldn’t?”

Dennis proved to her friend that she had no hard feelings towards Flowers, assuring her that she had done “nothing wrong".

“We have never been closer, you did nothing wrong and don’t need to worry about being judged by me,” Dennis said.
