'I was very stupid': Bethenny Frankel says she ignored glaring 'red flags' before marrying Jason Hoppy
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Bethenny Frankel recently reflected on the "red flags" she overlooked during her marriage with her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy.
The 'Real Housewives of New York' alum even admitted that she overlooked a few warning signs as she convinced herself to be "that into him" on the Friday, April 12 episode of her 'Just B Divorced' podcast.

While discussing the warning signs, Frankel said the first red flag she overlooked was when Hoppy decided to stay back with her after a night out. He apparently told her that he had parked his car somewhere else so he could ride with her.
Referring to the instance, the TV personality shared, "Then he asked the driver to take him back downtown to get his car," as per Page Six.
The Skinnygirl Margarita founder noted that the move could be viewed either as "endearing that he wanted to hang out with me" or could be perceived as a lie "that he wanted to hang out with me."
Another red flag she overlooked was Hoppy wishing to embrace parenthood while they were in the early stage of their relationship as a concern for her age.
The Bravo star, who shares her daughter Bryn, 13, with Hoppy, expressed, "Now I did not think of this as a red flag. I don’t know why I didn’t. I think other people would think of it. I think I was 36 or maybe 37, like your biological clock is ticking, but I wasn’t 42. And I was also about to launch a liquor brand."
She concurred, "But I led with like my heart and not my logic and my mind and not my gut and my stomach," before adding, "And I’m not blaming anyone else — my body, my own choice."
Frankel also claimed that what she previously perceived as her ex-husband's charm turned into his "toxic trait."
Bethenny Frankel was irked by a comment made by Jason Hoppy while discussing Jessica Simpson's divorce
Frankel claimed that she found the final "fire engine red flag" while discussing Nick Lachey’s divorce from Jessica Simpson in 2006.
The 'RHONY' star recalled Hoppy telling her during that time, "He [Lachey] should take whatever he can get from her."
Despite the obvious signs, Frankel tied the knot with Hoppy in March 2010, after she got pregnant with Bryn. Things turned soon after and the couple separated in 2012.
While they filed for divorce in January 2013, the former couple got into a years-long custody battle and were able to reach a financial settlement only in 2016. However, their divorce wasn't finalized until January 2021.
She recalled on her podcast, "But nevertheless, I ended up getting engaged and I ended up doing a prenup really fast that my lawyer said I should not allow you to sign."
"But I said, I’m marrying a regular guy, a small town guy from a small you know town family, a regular guy. He does not want my money, famous last words," added Frankel with a touch of self-deprecatory humor.
The reality TV star further noted that money, however, ended up becoming one of the most talked about things in their relationship as Frankel recalled she "had more [money] than this person."
Frankel admitted that she "wasn’t really that into him," but talked herself into believing it as during that time she’d hit a "low, vulnerable point."
"I convinced myself to be that into him, and when I would hit a low during that general period, it would be like a security blanket and I would like logically say this is something I should do," expressed Frankel.
Owing to her failed relationship, she learned that in such situations "what you should do is run like a thief in the night if you’re not certain."
"I was pregnant. I was not happy in my relationship. I kept going because I was doing a television show and I was very stupid," said Frankel.
Currently, the 'RHONY' alum is in a relationship with Paul Bernon.
