EAGLE, IDAHO: A local Idaho bar has ignited a national political firestorm after launching a viral offer that promises free beer to anyone who helps ICE deport an undocumented immigrant. The Old State Saloon’s promotion gained traction on social media over the weekend, dividing the Internet instantly.

Supporters celebrated the bold move, while critics accused the saloon of encouraging vigilante-style behavior.

Old State Saloon doubles down with viral free-beer-for-deportations offer

The controversy began on Saturday when the bar announced on X (formerly Twitter) that “anyone who helps ICE identify and ultimately deport an illegal from Idaho gets FREE BEER FOR ONE MONTH.”

The post spread rapidly across conservative platforms, with many applauding the bar for taking immigration enforcement into its own hands. It also noted that the establishment “may award multiple months to one person if multiple illegals are deported.”

The saloon didn’t stop there. It instructed would-be participants to send photos, videos, or documentation to deportations@oldstatesaloon.com to claim their reward. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) even reposted the saloon’s offer with a GIF expressing shock, prompting the bar to respond with, “Let’s go! Deport them all!” The exchange fueled even more attention and intensified the discourse online.

Supporters quickly jumped in. One user suggested the bar create a public leaderboard and crown a “Deporter of the Year.”

Others urged the saloon to offer additional perks for multiple deportation submissions.

One user commented, "WHERE CAN I SEND MONEY TO HELP! Lmao."

Another asked, "Hold up! Is there a limit per month? Limit on months?"

Another said, "Been 5 years sober but..."

One user commented saying, "As a LEGAL immigrant I support this."

Another person wrote, "Can I open a franchise here in Tennessee and then offer the same great banger deal?"

Another simply said, "Perhaps I need to move to Idaho! "

First winner confirmed as Idaho GOP official

The bar has already approved at least one participant. According to the establishment, Ryan Spoon, vice chair of the Ada County Republican Central Committee, earned a free month of beer from its 20 available draft options after providing evidence that he assisted ICE in an arrest.

Conservative Gen Z influencer Bo Loudon also celebrated the idea, calling it an “incredible idea” on X and adding, “This is why I love the United States.”

Critics call for a boycott

Not everyone found the saloon’s promotion amusing. Opponents condemned the initiative, accusing the business of exploiting immigration tensions for attention. Many called for the bar to be canceled, and negative Google reviews flooded in. The salpon responded with defiance, writing, “1 star reviews roll in from the loser LEFT.”

Its social media bio echoed that antagonistic tone, boasting that “liberals around the world hate us.”

A history of provocative stunts

Owner Mark Fitzpatrick is no stranger to national headlines. In 2024, he launched “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” during June, a pointed counter to Pride Month, offering discounts and free beer to heterosexual men, women, and couples.

The bar also sells apparel featuring the slogan “Make America Straight Again.”
