WASHINGTON, DC: White House border czar Tom Homan has called on critics of ICE to lower the intensity of their language after the 37-year-old mother, identified as Renee Nicole Good, was fatally shot by the federal agent in Minneapolis.
During an appearance on The 'Dr Phil Podcast,' Homan made an emotional appeal as crowds gathered to protest the death of Renee Good, stating, “I’m begging. Tone down the rhetoric.”
Tom Homan’s shares personal toll and pleads for peace
Tom Homan, during his appearance on the podcast, shared his concerns about the safety of both the public and law enforcement.
He explained the emotional toll of his career, saying, “In my career, I’ve buried Border Patrol agents, I’ve buried ICE agents, and the saddest thing I’ve ever had to do is hand a folded flag to a spouse or a child."
He continued his plea by saying, “So, for God’s sake, let’s tone the reddit down. Less blood. I don’t want to see more bloodshed. I didn’t want to see blood from day one.”
Homan admitted that he is worried the situation will get worse before it gets better because of the harsh language being used. “With the rhetoric now, comparing ICE to murders and the Chief Secret Police, I’m afraid this is not over,” he said.
Dr Phil agreed with the border czar’s concern, responding, “I’m afraid you’re right.”
Federal probe begins after tragic shooting in Minneapolis
The fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good, a mother of three, has sparked intense debate and anger across the country.
An ICE agent, identified as Jonathan Ross, shot and killed Good after her vehicle obstructed a roadway during a federal operation.
While ICE officials claim the agent acted in self-defense because Good used her car as a weapon, critics argue that she was simply trying to leave the scene and that the force used was excessive.
The FBI is currently investigating the incident to determine exactly what happened.
Protesters demand justice as Minneapolis streets turn volatile
In response to the shooting, protesters have filled the streets of Minneapolis to demand justice, leading to a heavy police presence.
On Friday night, authorities declared an unlawful assembly and arrested dozens of people as the situation grew increasingly volatile.
The tension has also affected the media, with NewsNation correspondent Ali Bradley forced to stop her report after protesters harassed her and called the crew names for reading ICE’s official statement.
Some protesters even smashed the windows of a government vehicle during the demonstrations.
