'I'm glad you're in prison': 'RHOSLC' star Heather Gay reveals Jen Shah as the cause behind her black eye
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: Heather Gay has finally opened up about her black eye that she had during the cast’s girls' trip to San Diego in the Spring of 2022. The ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ star claimed it was Jen Shah who gave her the shiner.
During the season finale of the fourth installment of the Bravo show on Tuesday, January 23, Heather’s black eye drama somewhat unfolded with her sending a “powerful” message to Jen, in case she is watching the show from prison.
Heather Gay claimed she got the black eye from Jen Shah
On April 9, 2022, during a girls’ trip to San Diego, Heather woke up with a black eye. The source of it was unknown until the 49-year-old businesswoman shared it all during Tuesday’s ‘RHOSLC Reunion Part 3’ episode.
The episode also revealed previously unseen footage, showing Heather and Jen talking about it and talking about the coverup, per Toofab.
After Heather’s explosive claim that Jen was the reason behind her black eye, Andy Cohen asked, "Heather, you shocked the world when you claimed Jen gave you the black eye, tell us how it happened.”
Heather explained, "Honestly, it was a lot of drinking and the next morning I woke up with the black eye, I knew I'd gotten it from Jen.”
She reiterated, "I didn't know how, but I knew I'd gotten it from Jen.”
The socialite shared, “She was the first person I texted, she came in the room, she said, 'Did I give that to you?' I said, 'Don't worry, I'll cover.'"
As she was asked why she felt the need to “cover” for Jen, Heather replied, "I don't know. I was scared of her I think."
She then continued, "I had been covering for her for three years. I wasn't going to stop with the black eye. I was that in.”
Her explosive revelation continued as she shared, "And I was too scared to say anything. I was terrified to say it, I was still scared to say it at reunion, I was still scared to say it in Bermuda."
She mentioned Bermuda as during this trip she once again felt she was betrayed by someone she thought was a friend. This time it was Monica Garcia who was exposed as the person behind a RHOSLC "troll" account.
Heather Gay sends ‘powerful’ message to Jen Shah
During the episode, the previously unseen footage from the morning when Heather woke up with a black eye was then broadcast with a caption informing the readers that the audio was “unintelligible.”
The slate continued to inform the audience that both Jen and Heather initially said they "were discussing a different topic" in the footage. The caption added, "Heather now claims this footage shows them discussing the black eye.”
As Jen was seen entering Heather’s room in the morning and sitting on the couch, two ladies were seen to be conversing with each other.
Though the audio was unintelligible, Heather claimed Jen said, "I did that to you, I can't believe I did that to you." She, nevertheless, claimed, "Don't worry about it, I got you."
She then went on to apologize to her fans, family, and audience for hiding the reality for so long, as she admitted to feeling “scared.”
Heather said, "I didn't know how to navigate it myself. It was a horrible situation. I was scared and I did what I always do, I deflect with humor,” while conceding, “It was in poor taste, it was horrible.”
She continued, "I took a lot of hits for the black eye. I didn't go on social media for six months, and I was too scared to accuse or say anything otherwise. I'm still scared. I don't even want to have to do it now.”
The ‘Bad Mormon: A Memoir’ author shared that the duo even discussed how to carry out the coverup with Jen proposing, "Unless they can show us the footage, we deny."
Claiming Jen never thanked her for her purported coverup, Heather said, "She was never my friend. She pretended to be my friend and I fell for it.” Heather, who is now full of determination, promised, “I will not fall for a pretend friend again. I'm still worried about the retaliation."
At the end of the segment, Cohen gave Heather a chance to send a message to Jen Shah, who is now in prison for wire fraud.
Heather ended the segment by sending a virtual message to Jen, saying, "I would say, I'm no longer your b***h and I regret believing in you. I regret turning on all of you in her defense."
She added, "I regret fighting her fight, I regret disrespecting my children, my family, and my opportunity here. And I would say I'm glad you're in prison, or I might not have had the guts to do it otherwise."
Cohen hailed her for her message and called her comments a “powerful thing” while adding there was nothing else left to be said.
