WASHINGTON, DC: In a clip from an upcoming interview with Fox News that will air on Monday, July 22, former president Donald Trump decried the security shortcomings at his latest rally in Pennsylvania, when he was the target of an attempted assassination.

During the interview on 'Jesse Watters Primetime', Trump said, "How did somebody get on that roof and why wasn’t he reported? Because people saw that he was on the roof."

At a rally in Butler last weekend, there was an assassination attempt on the former president. He was shot in the ear during the incident, and he has been wearing a bandage over that ear ever since, according to The Hill.

Following the incident, the US Secret Service has come under fire from those who wonder how the gunman gained access to a roof where Trump could see it.



 

Trump said during the interview, "You had Trumpers screaming, the woman in the red shirt, she was screaming ‘man on the roof,’ and then other people, ‘there’s a man on the roof who’s got a gun.’ And that was quite a bit before I walked onto the stage. So, you would’ve thought somebody would’ve done something about it."

The head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, has also been under pressure and investigation since the incident from all political angles. On Wednesday, July 17, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) demanded new leadership for the agency and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) urged her to step down.

Rep Brendan Boyle (D-Pa) said in a statement posted on the social platform X on Saturday, July 20, "The evidence coming to light has shown unacceptable operational failures. I have no confidence in the leadership of the United States Secret Service if Director Cheatle chooses to remain in her position."



 

Internet sides with Trump as he laments security lapses 

Many internet users agreed with Donald Trump as he decried the security shortcomings at his latest rally in Pennsylvania when he was the target of an attempted assassination.

A user wrote on X, "Inside Job," while one added, "Clearly criminal acts were committed in allowing the shooter to get 8 shots off. Who knew and when?"



 



 

A person also stated, "People need to go to prison for this!" whereas one mentioned, "Truth, is stranger than fiction. Welcome to the matrix."



 



 

A user added, "There is A lot of people that belong in jail right now? Why is an assassination attempt on a President NOT a Big Deal right now?"
