PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Donald Trump believes President Joe Biden will not step down from his reelection campaign due to his ego and that First Lady Jill Biden is "having a good time" in her role at the White House.

The former president's comments come amid growing pressure within the Democratic Party for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race. Lawmakers, donors, and strategists have publicly urged the president to step aside, but he has repeatedly vowed to fight on.

Donald Trump shares his thoughts on why Joe Biden is unwilling to withdraw from the 2024 race despite rising criticism

During an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity, Trump stated, "It looks to me like he may very well stay in. He's got an ego, and he doesn't want to quit. He doesn't want to do that… nobody wants to give that up in that way. He's going to feel badly about himself for a long time."

Talking about the president's family, the presumptive GOP nominee added, "I think Jill would like to see him stay, she’s having a good time. I’m hearing Hunter is calling the shots."

"It’s hard to give it up that way the way they’re trying to force him out. He has all the power, he has the delegates. There's nothing they can do to get him out," elaborated Trump.

The first lady has declared herself "all in" on her husband's reelection bid, despite mounting calls from some Democrats for him to step down following his lackluster debate performance, as per the Associated Press.

Speaking in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Monday, July 8, she said, "For all the talk out there about this race, Joe has made it clear that he’s all in. That’s the decision that he’s made, and just as he has always supported my career, I am all in too."

Donald Trump's potential running mate

During the Fox News interview, Hannity asked Trump about his potential running mate, mentioning names such as Sen Marco Rubio, Sen Tim Scott, Sen JD Vance, and North Dakota Gov Doug Burgum. The former president indicated that these individuals are "absolutely under consideration," but he has yet to reach a final decision.

He hinted that an announcement might come soon, potentially at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, which begins on July 15.

"We’ll be announcing soon and I think everybody’s going to be very happy. The choice will be very good. Meaning, a person who can do a fantastic job as president — you always have to think about that first — and second, somebody who’s going to help you get elected, and there’s nothing wrong with that," said Trump.
