FALLS CHURCH, VIRGINIA: Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley urged that former President Donald Trump's legal cases should be "dealt with" before the 2024 presidential election in November, citing he might try and block the prosecution in the event of his re-election, reported New York Post.

In a conversation with NBC News's 'Meet the Press' on Thursday, February 29, at Falls Chruch, Virginia, the White House hopeful said, “I think all of the cases should be dealt with before November."

"We need to know what's going to happen before it, before the presidency happens, because after that, should he become president, I don't think any of it's going to get heard," she added.

The former UN Ambassador's remarks came a day after the US Supreme Court announced its decision to hear Trump's arguments on immunity from prosecution in the election subversion case. Two lower courts previously denied the former President's claims for absolute presidential immunity.

The nation's apex court has scheduled the oral arguments during the week of April 22; however, the final decision on immunity could delay the trial in the 2020 election interference case to 2025. If he wins the November election and the trial extends beyond January 2025, he could appoint an attorney general with the power to dismiss the case.

Nikki Haley says the President should adhere to laws

Further into the conversation with host, Kristen Welker, the former UN Ambassador, emphasized, "I just think a president has to live according to the laws, too. You don't get complete immunity," adding the SCOTUS decision to hear Trump's immunity arguments should not offer "free rein to do whatever they want to do."

Haley also shared concerns about whether the former President would abide by the Constitution if he entered the White House for a second term. To substantiate her skepticism, she pointed at her opponent's previous remarks of "revenge" and "vindication" and his wish to rule as a "dictator for a day."

Despite her constant attacks, Haley has failed to gain momentum against the GOP frontrunner. However, the consecutive failures in primaries, including her home state, South Carolina, have not hindered her determination to stay in the race.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, March 1, the former South Carolina Governor reiterated her vow to continue the race through Super Tuesday "as long as we're competitive."

Netizens expressed outrage and disappointment at Haley's insistence on a final ruling in Trump's legal cases before the November election, alleging it was her strategy to secure the GOP nomination.

One user remarked, "Nicky is an opportunist. She started speaking against the con man only when she realized he wouldn’t take her as his running mate."

"She’s just headed down the path of bitterness now. Not a good look," said another person.

A user added, "If she ever endorses him or publicly supports him again after all this, she may as well just go away and never show her face in politics again."

"The only reason Nikki wants the cases "dealt with" before the election is that with Trump convicted & off the ballot, she'd become the Republican front runner & could pardon him if she won the election," one response read.

Someone else opined, "Yep. She’ll say ANYTHING now for a few more votes!" Another remark read, "Because that’s her only chance at the nomination."
