WASHINGTON, DC: Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley voiced her concerns about whether former President Donald Trump would abide by the Constitution if he is elected President for a second term in November, reported NBC News.

In a conversation on 'Meet the Press,' host Kristen Welker inquired about the former UN Ambassador's take on whether the GOP frontrunner would do so if he returned to the Oval Office.

"I don't know. I mean, you always want to think someone will, but I don't know," Haley responded in the pre-taped interview set to air on Sunday, March 3.

The former South Carolina Governor, the only GOP opponent to Trump in the presidential primary, made the remarks as only days left for Super Tuesday primaries on March 5, when more than a dozen states will vote to choose their nominee for the November general election.

Despite her determination to continue in the race, Haley has extremely narrow chances of winning any of the states after her consecutive losses to Trump in the previous GOP primaries, including her home state, South Carolina.

Nikki Haley argues no president should have total immunity

The White House hopeful pointed fingers at Trump's previous statements like his wish to be a "dictator for a day" and his pledge for "ultimate and absolute revenge" against his enemies, as well as "vindication" and "terminating" the US Constitution, as per The Guardian.

"You know, when you go and you talk about revenge – when you go and you talk about, you know, vindication [and] when you go and you talk about – what does that mean? Like, I don't know what that means, and only he can answer for that," Haley stated with worry.

"What I can answer for is, I don't think there should ever be a president that's above the law. I don't think that there should ever be a president that has total immunity to do whatever they want to do," she added.

The former President has frequently argued that he should be granted absolute presidential immunity from prosecution in the election subversion case. In a shocking turn of events, the US Supreme Court announced this week that it would hear Trump's argument on the matter after two lower courts denied his immunity arguments.

Furthermore, Haley's concerns over Trump's adherence to the Constitution in the event of his second term in the White House came as more states banned the ex-president's candidacy from the ballot.

Following the path of Colorado and Maine, an Illinois judge on February 28 ruled Trump ineligible to be a candidate in the state's primary ballot under the 14th Amendment, citing his alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

Internet mocks Nikki Haley

Haley became prey to online mockery and ridicule over her remarks as netizens pointed out she would still endorse Trump in the end.

One user wrote, "She's a clown."

"Haley KNOWS she cannot beat TRUMP, and would say ANYTHING to help her HOPELESS cause," another person remarked.

A third user added, "And who cares what she has to say..." A fourth response read, "And when she endorses him, she destroys herself completely."

"I cannot tell you how cringe this woman is. She is a total fraud," someone else said. Another individual opined, "She's just talking crap."
