MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Bill Maher delivered a scathing critique of the current state of political discourse in his 'New Rules' segment on (February 17) 'Real Time', asserting that we've already hit the peak of talking points despite there being nine months until the presidential election.

Expressing his frustration, Maher bemoaned the repetitive nature of these talking points, citing examples such as complaints about the economy.

Bill Maher slams political rhetoric and upcoming presidential election

In his monologue, Bill Maher said, "It gets so dull hearing these talking points," highlighting the tendency for hyperbole in discussions.

As an illustration, he sarcastically quipped, "The American dream is dead because Mars bars were $1 and are now $1.25," emphasizing the triviality of some of the grievances raised in political discourse.

He added, "Yeah right! Everything is worse under Biden. The flowers don't smell as sweet; the WiFi is slower; IHOP tables are stickier; boners aren't as stiff, and even the fentanyl doesn't hit like it used to."

While he humorously admitted that he wouldn't pick President Joe Biden as his partner for the 'Squid Games', he also took a moment to highlight several positive aspects of the current situation.

Maher highlights cynicism toward upcoming presidential campaigns

Bill Maher didn't mince words when he addressed the predictability of political rhetoric from both sides. "I know what you hacks on both sides will say before they say it," he remarked, highlighting the repetitive nature of partisan arguments.

Maher questioned the wisdom of blaming every problem on Joe Biden, emphasizing, "Is it really healthy to blame every problem on Joe Biden?”

He noted, "You know a record number of Americans identified now as Independents making them the largest political block by far", before adding, "The reason for that is this kind of mindless partisanship.”

Looking ahead at the upcoming campaign season, Maher expressed cynicism about its potential impact, characterizing it as "mostly useless".

He humorously summed up the choices facing voters, quipping about deciding between "The candidate who can't walk upstairs or the candidate who can't walk down a ramp."

Bill Maher's monologue on 'Real Time' sparked a flurry of reactions across social media, showcasing a somewhat divided audience.

Opinions varied widely, with only a handful of viewers expressing agreement or admiration for Maher's insights, saying, "I agree with him," while several others voicing disagreement or criticism, writing, "EXTRA! EXTRA!"

One social media user strongly criticized Maher and wrote, "Rich guy making fun of people who are struggling with buying food and paying their mortgage. How edgy and funny Bill; you missed again."

"Come on Bill... I thought you were making progress", another said.

Another wrote, "Bill i normally find something to laugh or relate to and have loved your humor for years. This was not funny."
