LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bill Maher, the outspoken host of HBO's 'Real Time', has made one things very clear -- he is determined to do everything within his power to prevent former president Donald Trump from winning the November election.

In a recent interview with Variety, Maher expressed his firm stance against the idea of Trump returning to the Oval Office, stating, "I'll do everything I can to make sure that doesn’t happen, but none of us have much influence."

Bill Maher refuses to sacrifice mental peace to Trump's presidency again

According to The Hill, reflecting on the past elections, Maher admitted to surrendering his mental peace to Trump's presidency, a mistake he's not willing to repeat.

He remarked, "What I have decided to do is not preemptively give up my nervous system to Donald Trump like I did last time, or maybe the last two times."

Despite his determination, Maher acknowledged the reality of a polarized nation, likening it to a divided prison yard where individuals align themselves with one team or the other.

"Everybody says they want to be in the middle, but really they just go to their corners," Maher observed.

Maher, known for his liberal commentary and consistent criticism of Trump, emphasized the futility of dwelling on the election outcome, stating, "So either Trump will win or he won’t. And when he becomes president, either he’ll blow up the world or put me in Guantánamo Bay or whatever, but I just cannot worry about it constantly."

"The country is polarized. It’s like a prison yard — you’re either one team or the other," Maher stated, expressing his concerns about the deeply entrenched divisions within American society.

The comedian's apprehension toward Trump's potential return to power is palpable, as he has previously expressed personal fear of what a second term under Trump could entail. In a statement last year, Maher confessed, "I don’t know what he would do in a second term."

Critiques and support for Bill Maher's approach

Users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed a range of opinions in response to Bill Maher's stance on not allowing Donald Trump's potential return to power to conserve his mental well-being.

One social media user wrote, "Bill Maher is as bad as trump."

Another added, "Any sane American should do the same !"

One user wrote, "Bills mentality is what the elite mentality is except that they actually have power which is why many question the fairness of this all."

Another replied, "Multimillionaire champagne liberal @billmaher."

One user said, "@billmaher you may start by STOP attacking Dems who are the ONLY ones working their level best to KEEP this Republic."
