WASHINGTON, DC: Top Democratic congressional leaders are planning a crucial meeting to discuss President Joe Biden's re-election campaign.

This comes amid growing concerns within the party about Biden's recent performances and his ability to win against Donald Trump.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to lead virtual meeting

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-NY, is set to lead a virtual meeting with top Democrats to chart the path forward for Biden's campaign, NBC News reported.

The meeting, according to Fox News, will take place on Sunday at 2 pm.

The meeting will feature Jeffries and top committee Democrats, but it will not include the full Democratic caucus.

This follows Biden's recent 22-minute interview with ABC News, which has intensified worries among Democrats who were already alarmed by his poor debate performance last week.

"Look, Biden looked better and certainly more coherent than he looked during the debate, but there's nothing in this interview that is calming the nerves of jittery Democrats who fear that Joe Biden is on a trajectory to lose this race, to lose to Donald Trump," said Jonathan Karl, ABC News chief Washington correspondent.

Biden remained defiant, stating in the interview, "I would not drop out unless 'the Lord Almighty were to come down and say, Joe, get outta the race.'"

Concerns continue to grow among Democrats

The statement has further raised concerns among the Democrats as Angie Craig, (D-Minn), became the first front-line member and fifth Democrat to call for Biden to “step aside for the next generation of leadership.”

Sen Mark Warner, (D-Va), is also organizing a meeting among Democratic senators next week to discuss Biden's electability and the potential impact on down-ballot races.

A Democratic lawmaker, who previously endorsed Biden, according to NBC News, indicated plans to soon break their silence on his political future.

"It made me sad," the lawmaker said regarding Biden’s interview. He said the debate was "completely out of touch with reality and insulated from truth."

A senior aide to another front-line Democrat mentioned discussions about publicly raising concerns directly to the president.

“Front-liners are all pissed, and they are personally ready to pull the trigger to ask Biden to step aside, but politically they are scared s---less,” the aide revealed.

Internet reacts as Democrats plan meeting to discuss Joe Biden's future

Internet reactions reflect a mix of predictions and opinions amid the Democratic infighting about who will run for presidential elections.

One X user predicted, "Trump's gonna win," while another noted, "Wise decision!" about the top Democrats' meeting plans.

"I've decided I want Biden to stay. This insures the future of America. Trump will win," wrote another user.

Meanwhile, one comment suggested, "Republicans should be scared out of their minds about the thought of Biden being replaced."

"Media Moguls turn on Biden after 9 years of persecuting Trump. Dems can’t handle it," expressed another user, highlighting the shifting dynamics within the Democratic Party.
