Internet mocks Dean Phillips as he claims Biden possibly 'unelectable' after GOP impeachment inquiry
CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Democratic presidential candidate Rep Dean Phillips faced brutal internet mockery after suggesting that the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden could make him “unelectable” as a general election nominee.
In an interview with Semafor, the 54-year-old Minnesota Representative stated he would vote against the Republican impeachment investigation but he also mentioned that reports about Biden and his son could damage him in 2024.
"I don't see he evidence of it, but yes, when your own son and your own brother are clearly, at the very least unethical and at worst, doing illegal things — my goodness, of course, the country pays attention to it," Phillips said.
“People do believe that it perhaps makes him unelectable — somehow, it conflates him with the Trump family’s indiscretions,” he continued, according to Fox News.
Philips continued by stating that he doubted the impeachment would cause Democrats to rally around Biden as the first impeachment did for Trump and the GOP.
Citing the president's age of 81, Phillips has consistently berated Biden for "not passing the torch" to the next generation of Democratic leaders and encouraged a serious primary challenger to take on the president for the party's 2024 candidacy.
Internet reacts to Dean Philips’ remarks
After Philips’ remarks surfaced on social media, many users slammed him for calling Biden possibly 'unelectable' in the 2024 presidential run.
“what a joke,” one user trolled the representative. “So--apparently what would make Joe unelectable makes Trump, who underwent it twice, electable,” a second user mocked.
“@deanbphillips is so desperate in his presidential campaign that he is playing the GOP impeachment card,” the third user attacked while the fourth one wrote “Lol, He sounds like a Republican. Is he about to switch parties?”
“Lol the guy who is actually unelectable, with zero track record is out here spewing Republican talking points,” the fifth user asserted.
“You mean trumps? You’re a fool Dean Phillips,” one more said. “Yeah there's no case for impeachment so dean is not serious here!” one more said.

@deanbphillips is so desperate in his presidential campaign that he is playing the GOP impeachment card & bear in mind there is no evidence of wrongdoing on Biden's part.

GOP impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden
House leaders previously announced that they intend to hold a formal vote on a measure that would formally start the impeachment process of the president.
Republicans in the House have not yet received enough votes to pass their continuing investigation to a full chamber vote.
The probe has struggled to uncover wrongdoing by the president which is why it hasn’t garnered the unified support of the full GOP conference.
Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who charged Biden with being a part of a "culture of corruption," opened the investigation in September.
“House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden's conduct,” McCarthy said at that time.
Since then, Biden and the White House have maintained on multiple occasions that he acted appropriately and was unaware of his son's business connections.
However, nearly 70 per cent of Americans, including 40 per cent of Democrats, believe that Biden acted unethically or unlawfully when it came to his family's financial interests, according to a recent Associated Press poll.
