LONDON, ENGLAND: Meghan Markle has received a cold shoulder from Sophie Trudeau, who claimed that she hasn't "spent much time" with the Duchess, who earlier referred to the ex-wife of the Canadian PM as a "dear friend."

It appears that the relationship between the Duchess of Sussex and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the former wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, may not be as harmonious as previously suggested. Meghan had previously spoken about their close bond on her now-canceled podcast, 'Archetypes', per The Mirror.

Meghan Markle and Sophie Trudeau appear to be distant

Sophie Trudeau, who was formerly married to Justin Trudeau, has minimized her perceived closeness with the Duchess, despite Meghan Markle previously suggesting a strong bond and describing Sophie as "emblematic of strength."

In a November 2022 episode of the 'Archetypes' podcast, Meghan mentioned that Sophie used to send her small meditations during her pregnancy, along with voice notes providing encouragement. Meghan also noted, "I've gone to her over the years for advice."

Meghan also shared a delightful anecdote about a day spent with Sophie at her Montecito estate, where their children played in the pool on pizza-shaped floats. They savored wine "on the terrace" and felt "giddy like absolute schoolgirls," per Daily Mail.

However, Sophie took a different line and appeared hesitant, to put it mildly when questioned about her friendship with Meghan in a recent interview with The Times. "I know her... but we haven't spent much time together," Sophie remarked.

Sophie then changed the subject to Meghan's sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, expressing that upon learning of the Princess's cancer diagnosis last month, her "heart just sank."

The exact reason for the apparent change in the relationship between Meghan and Sophie remains unknown. However, speculation suggests it could be linked to Meghan's rumored fallout with her former best friend and Sophie's stylist, Jessica Mulroney.

A source reportedly revealed to Page Six at the time that Meghan believed Jessica was "trying to make a career out of their friendship." A royal expert, however, asserted that Meghan was also making use of their bond.

Internet slams Meghan Markle for not knowing 'what real friendship is'

Social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to ridicule the Duchess of Sussex with one user stating, "M probably has ghosted her now that Sophie and Trudeau have split. M doesn’t know what real friendship is."

A second user added, "Seems like yet another case of 'recollections may vary.'"

"l would love to see the list of people she sent the jam to who have ignored her," mocked a user.

Another one added, "That’s why Megsy’s project announcements are a failure because there’s no substance and no follow-up. They’re all just hype for instant publicity."

"MM has no need for Sophie now that she has left the Canadian PM. I bet Sophie got markled," snarked one user. [sic]

Another remarked, "Meghan doesn't understand the word 'discrete' - and therein lies the entire problem I'm afraid."

One added, "They were friends but obvs MM has yet again ostracized someone with her attitude." [sic]
