Trump accused of not being specific about business policies

Also, as per CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin, many business leaders “said that [Trump] was remarkably meandering, could not keep a straight thought [and] was all over the map.”

The journalist also stated that the CEOs “were people who I think might have been actually predisposed to [Trump, but] actually walked out of the room less predisposed” to him.

Besides, it has been said that the 77-year-old Republican was purposefully not enthusiastic at the meeting as he wanted it to be “more like a business meeting than a speech”.

During the roundtable, Trump “discussed his plan to bring the corporate tax rate down from 21% to 20% ... and was asked about why he had chosen 20%,” as said by Sorkin, who also reported that the former President selected the number because “it’s a round number.”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - APRIL 19: Former U.S. President Donald Trump speaks to the media at the end of the day during his criminal trial as jury selection continues at Manhattan Criminal Court on April 19, 2024 in New York City. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 presidential election. “That unto itself had a number of CEOs shaking their heads,” Sorkin added.

Netizens call Trump ‘a crook in every way possible’

Meanwhile, people have expressed their thoughts over Trump’s meeting performance.

A person on Facebook commented, “In listening to trump talk in the '90s, he comes across as erudite and able speaker. He is totally different now. His sentences ramble. He can't focus on an idea for more than 5 words. He has NO idea about his topic. It's astounding.”

Another person shared, “I’ve been waiting roughly 8 years for this guy to string two sentences together in a coherent manner. He’s un-listenable.”

“Just kept repeating himself! He’s lost,” a third one remarked.

A fourth user stated, “I mean I meander, I sometimes can’t put two coherent thoughts together, so I sympathize. But also no one is suggesting I’d make a good president. This man should not be elected for that and for so many other reasons. Of course, repubs in Congress would say otherwise.”

A user on X tweeted, “Trump was a fraud in 2015, and now he's a convicted fraudster. He's no business genius,  he's a crook in every way possible, and dumb as f***. They know he is!”

, “Why don't they go and meet with President Biden, @POTUS? He's the one driving record profits to their firms and investors, not a convicted felon for fraud.”

Another said, “The FELONs clueless on policies and it's showing. He's obsessed only about himself.

“Glad to see rich people calling him out! A lot of them just follow him for the tax cuts and handouts,” a tweet read.
