LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jesse Watters, a familiar face on Fox News, found himself at the center of controversy after making assertive statements regarding Michael Cohen, former attorney to Donald Trump.

During a Fox News segment, Watters asserted that Cohen, who had previously worked closely with Trump, became noticeably disheartened when he wasn't selected for a significant role in the White House.

Jesse Watters' dubious claims about Cohen's mental state

“And it was personal for Cohen too. He testified that he was devastated when Trump didn't tap him to be chief of staff," Watters said.

"Cohen says he knows he wasn't qualified, but it would have been nice just to be considered. He even thought he was being considered for attorney general. So when Trump told him he wasn't taking him to Washington, Cohen became suicidal and wanted revenge," Watters added.

Michael Cohen's post-election offers and proposals to the Trump administration

According to Politico, Following Donald Trump's win in the 2016 election, Michael Cohen, Trump's former personal lawyer, disclosed that he was offered a role as assistant White House counsel by incoming chief of staff Reince Priebus.

However, Cohen felt slighted by not being considered for the chief of staff position, attributing his disappointment to personal pride.

Following this, Cohen proposed to Trump the idea of serving as his personal attorney, presenting the proposal during a lengthy discussion with the assistance of another lawyer.

Cohen also expressed interest in serving as a consultant for businesses navigating the Trump presidency, which would have allowed him to remain in New York while advising on ongoing matters and safeguarding Trump's interests.

Despite these suggestions, Cohen never formally assumed any role within the Trump administration.

However, the internet didn't take Watters' words lightly. People from all corners chimed in, pointing out the flaws in his reasoning and the insensitivity of his claims.

Another stated, "Waters literally looks like he's holding back tears!"
