Internet divided as Russell Brand decides to get baptized after battling sexual assault allegations
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Russell Brand has announced he’s going to get baptized as a Christian soon!
The comedian-actor who is recently marred with multiple sexual abuse and rape allegations told his fans over a social media post on April 26.
Why did Russell Brand decide to get baptized at 48?
In the short clip, Brand explained that many are turning to Christianity as the modern world is becoming meaningless.
"This Sunday, I’m taking the plunge. I’m getting baptized," he said in the video.
The 48-year-old continued, "What’s been explained to me is, it’s an opportunity to die and be reborn. An opportunity to leave the past behind and be reborn in Christ’s name."
The podcaster also read a sacrament, "Like it says in Galatians: that you can live as an enlightened and awakened person."

Brand has actively explored various subjects over his YouTube channel, including news, politics, culture and spirituality, per FoxNews.
On Sunday, he described baptism and similar rituals of rebirth in other celebrated religions as "so inviting and beautiful."
"People are so cynical about the increasing interest in Christianity and the return to God, but to me, it’s obvious, Brand continued to explain his decision.
“As meaning deteriorates in the modern world, as our value systems and institutions crumble, all of us become increasingly aware that there is this eerily familiar awakening and beckoning figure that we’ve all known all of our lives, within us and around us."
"And for me it’s very exciting," he concluded.
Brand had in past identified himself as a Buddhist and was interested in the Hare Krishna Movement.
