NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During a scathing monologue on June 10, 'The Daily Show' host Jon Stewart criticized multinational corporations for their insincere celebration of Pride Month, accusing them of exploiting the LGBTQ+ community for profit.

Stewart opened his show by acknowledging the start of Pride Month, then remarked, "Pride Month is, of course, that time of year when corporations come together to capitalize on the long-standing fight of the gay community for acceptance and equality."

Pride Month, celebrated every June, is a vibrant global tribute to the LGBTQ+ community, honoring love, diversity, and acceptance.

It was first recognized in 1994 when a coalition of education-based organizations in the United States designated October as LGBT History Month.

Stewart went on to ridicule several corporate Pride Month advertisements from companies like Burger King, Skittles, Oreo, and Target.

He then questioned, “Why are we allowing ourselves to get worked up over whether giant multinational corporations are pro-gay or have traditional American values? Because corporations have but one value: shareholder value. That’s all they have.”

He argued, “There is nothing corporations do that is not in service of their bottom line. Even when you go to the checkout at the grocery store, and the little card reader thing says, ‘Do you wanna round up to help feed some children?’ Well, the first thing I think is, ‘You’re the one with all the fucking food!’ Why don’t you round some of that up?!”

Stewart concluded, “Let’s stop pretending that a corporation can even be woke or unwoke or patriotic or unpatriotic. Let’s just let corporations live their truth as the profit-seeking, Patrick Bateman psychopaths they are. At the very least, we might finally get some honesty.”

Internet backs Jon Stewart for ripping into corporations exploiting Pride Month

Viewers supported Stewart as he criticized multinational corporations for exploiting Pride Month and pretending to care about more than just their profits.

A particular viewer expressed, "I'm not worried about the corporation virtue signaling. I'm worried about the politicians they donate to supporting legislation to take people's rights away.''

Following suit, another observer added, "Corporations aren't even hiding their greed anymore. They're price gouging without raising wages.''

Additionally, a viewer pointed out, "Remember, corporations aren't your friends."

A follower contributed, "Imagine thinking in 2024 that a corporation does anything out of goodwill for the people…"

A comment underscored, "They (corporations) are very clearly conflicted between the high moral values they think we want and the amoral values that serve their shareholders" Very well put!"

Another comment echoed, "This was one of the best Daily Shows that I've seen in a long time. John Stewart is an absolute treasure and is the best part of The Daily Show and always has been. Cheers to John!"

An individual elaborated further, saying, "The corporate pandering is just insufferable. It's not done to help the disadvantaged. It's all done to try and get you to give them more money. Nothing more, nothing less."
