NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Ousted New York Rep Jamaal Bowman is seeking monetary help to pay off campaign debts. He now finds himself "in the red" and is painting himself as the victim after his defeat against Westchester County Executive George Latimer in the June primary fight.

It was the most expensive race in House history and Bowman whined to donors about the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which ended up spending $14.5 million to help unseat him, according to the New York Post.

Jamaal Bowman wrote in an August 14 campaign committee email, "AIPAC spent more money against us than any other House primary – ever. I was public enemy number one and they spent almost twenty millions dollars to stop us."

He added, "But that puts us in a bit of a predicament right now. After tallying up the spends, we’re ‘in the red.’ It would be an incredible help to our team if you could help us retire our campaign debt by chipping in a few dollars now."

Bowman's campaign used up a lot of cash in its final days, including more than $1.3 million in TV ads buys and digital advertising in June, as per FEC records.

Notably, Bowman spent more than $5.3 million in the race whereas Latimer’s campaign utilized more than $5.6 million. Till July 2024, Bowman’s campaign reported more than $373,000 cash in the bank with debts of over $141,000, according to the most recent Federal Election Commission filing.

Mark Mellman, president of the nonprofit Democratic Majority for Israel said, "I’m glad Bowman was defeated. I am sorry [his campaign is] broke. But it’s only his fault and the fault of his campaign."

Bowman saw his political future implode when he infamously pulled a fire alarm in a Capitol office building in September 2023 and claimed he thought it would open a door.

Internet slams Jamaal Bowman for seeking monetary help

People on the internet slammed Jamaal Bowman as he sought monetary help to pay off the campaign debts after finding himself "in the red". 

A user wrote on X, "Dudes finding out who his real friends were. Lol and it wasn't his party."

Another added, "Jamaal Bowman should go to work as a firefighter to pay off his campaign debts."



 



 

A person also stated, "Socialists never take personal responsibility.. They always expect to be bailed out!" whereas one mentioned, "Well he should call @aoc to organize another block party in the Bronx to fundraiise."



 



 

A user remarked, "Jammy could get hired as a fire alarm inspector, just suggesting. lol."

Another commented, "He’s trying to “pull the fire alarm” again."
