James Carville dares Sean Hannity to 'fact-check' him on Trump's move to kill border bill in fiery clash
WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News host Sean Hannity and veteran Democratic strategist James Carville clashed on Friday in a fiery debate over Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump and several other hot-button issues.
The second part of their interview showcased a heated exchange that touched on immigration, gun violence, and political accountability.
Hannity and Carville spar over immigration and gun violence
Hannity challenged Carville on Harris’ immigration record, citing incidents where Americans had been killed by individuals who crossed into the US under the Biden-Harris administration.
“We have never had illegal immigration at this level and I believe it’s a clear and present danger for you, for your family, for your children,” Hannity declared, referencing specific cases of migrant crime.
Carville responded by shifting the focus to the issue of mass shootings. He pointed out that legally purchased firearms had been used to commit violence, including attacks on children.
“I would have great difficulty – as anyone would have – great difficulty, telling the parents in Uvalde how your children were slaughtered with a legal weapon that no one has any need to have. I would say the same thing to the people in Buffalo,” Carville stated.
Hannity interjected, accusing Carville of changing the topic. “You are changing the topic. They would be alive if we – if we secured the border,” Hannity argued.
Carville rebutted, “If you – The border had nothing to do with it Uvalde.”
Hannity insisted, “They entered the country”, but Carville countered, “The border had nothing to do with it. Again, the border had nothing to do with this. Please fact-check me. Please fact-check me! The border had nothing to do with these mass shootings with these AR-15s.”
Carville blames Trump for blocking immigration reform
The debate also delved into legislative matters. Carville criticized former President Donald Trump for his role in blocking a bipartisan immigration reform bill. “Senator Lankford and Senator Murphy’s plan, that was negotiated and Donald Trump killed it. That’s a fact. Y’all can fact-check me,” Carville asserted.
He elaborated, “Donald Trump killed the plan. That plan to be clear, would not have been implemented unless a few million people crossed the border on any given day it would be discretionary. That’s not a border security plan.”
As the interview concluded, Hannity pressed Carville to name a significant accomplishment of Harris that justified her role in the administration and asked, “Is America better off than it was four years ago?” Carville responded, “Let me say this, it is better off than it was four years ago.”
