LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jamie Foxx appeared emotional during his highly anticipated one-man show, 'One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx' when he took the stage in Atlanta earlier this month.

The show marked the 56-year-old comedian's return to performing after an 18-year hiatus, and it was also the platform for him to share his personal story about his April 2023 health scare.

Jamie Foxx's reflection on his comeback

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Monday, October 14, Jamie Foxx shared his gratitude and reflections from the show, writing, “God is good…. As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy.”

Expressing his deep connection to the city of Atlanta, where the performances took place on October 3, 4, and 5, the actor wrote, "There was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia,” as he acknowledged the city's outpouring support during his recovery.

In his emotional message, Foxx thanked his Atlanta audience for their love and support, describing how much he needed both the stage and the embrace of a crowd after what had been a life-changing ordeal.

“I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were,” he continued.

Calling the stand-up comedy act an “artistic explanation” of an event that went "terribly wrong," Foxx also took a moment to thank the staff at Atlanta’s Piedmont Hospital.

"Thanks to the great people in Atlanta especially piedmont hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most," he wrote.

“#Nobaddays as my guy James would say #secondchance," Foxx concluded the post.

One of the images showed him holding up his arm with his head bent down, and in another, he wipes his arm across his face.

Foxx also embraced someone on stage and played the piano. A particularly touching moment came when his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise, joined him on stage and played the electric guitar beside her father.

In September, Foxx teased that he would be using his one-man show to open up about the health scare that began in April 2023, according to People.

He had spoken publicly in July about how the illness started with a “bad headache,” leading to a nearly 20-day stretch where he was unresponsive and unaware of his situation.
